At the Hard Court Nationals in Kalamazoo—the biggest and most prestigious junior tournament of the year in the US—Pure Pace Tennis Academy had six alumni from our HP Camps competing in the Boys' 16s and 18s divisions. Congratulations to Karthik Thumu, Vedansh Pande, Julian Zhang, Surya DeDatta, Magnus Weng, and George Santalov for qualifying and competing. Facing future D1 athletes, current professionals, and the top juniors in the country, this tournament represents the highest level of competition in USTA Junior tennis; winners receive wildcards into the US Open. A special congratulations goes to Karthik Thumu for surpassing his Clay Court Nationals result and reaching the Round of 16, where he put up a great fight against one of the top 16-year-olds in the world. It was another amazing year at KZoo!

Head coach Bryan recently traveled to Knoxville, Tennessee, to coach Evan Burnett at a Pro UTR Tournament. Conditions were challenging, as the tournament moved indoors with no air conditioning or airflow. Evan showed great resilience, becoming one of only 6 of the original 16 players still on the schedule by the final day. After competing in four tough matches against top college players from across the country, Evan gained the valuable match experience and development needed to take his game to the next level at the University of Michigan this year. Go Wolverines!

We had a fantastic training block and tournament for the Clay Court Nationals this year. Karthik Thumu and Vedansh Pande both put in the work to prepare and dial in their games on the clay with us at Pure Pace Tennis Academy here in Dade City before heading to Palm Beach for the tournament. Playing at some of the nicest clubs in the world against the best players in the country was a fantastic experience for everyone. Congratulations to Karthik for reaching the round of 32 out of over 200 players and splitting sets with Michael Chervenkov, the fourth highest-rated 14-year-old in the world. Both Karthik and Vedansh learned a lot, developed their games, and are ready to reach their next level during their junior year of high school.

Congratulations to Henry Wilson on becoming the second Pure Pace alumni to earn an ATP point. Henry achieved this milestone with a doubles victory, with his partner Kristian Sharma, over the number one seeds at the M15 Futures event in Claremont, California. Henry also had an outstanding college season, earning Rookie of the Year honors for Division III programs and finishing the year ranked number 31 nationally.

Summer training has gone amazingly well with our new High Performance team. The kids are making the most of the summer opportunities and training like pros. Between two intentional practices a day and fitness training, they are taking on a full load comparable to that of college players, and their skills are improving quickly. Best of all, their effort, attitude, and gratitude for this opportunity have been fantastic.

We are excited to finish out our summer training and transition to our new after-school high performance program in August!
