From your Dirty Spokes Meteorologist, Don Burkett:

OK, it is time again for the Dirty Spokes Road Atlanta Trail Race. A once a year chance to run this really challenging trail course that includes a little bit of everything that trail runners desire in a course. This year will be a different twist to this course as both races will be shorten due to track construction that does affect our normal course layout. All is good as it will shorten the short course approximately 1.5 miles to 3.15 and the long course by approximately 3.1 miles to 6 miles even. The beauty and challenge of this course will not be affected by the reroute of the course, so you will not leave disappointed. Weather will be on the warm side with temperatures at 8:00 (which is the start time for both races) will be 70 degrees and will feel like 73 degrees. Humidity will be high at 94% and the Dew Point will be uncomfortable at 71 degrees. Winds will be around 3 mph and most likely will not help cool your body. They are calling for Partly Cloudy skies and a 13% chance of some type of precipitation but I doubt we will see any moisture fall. Again this course has many technical sections with rock gardens, roots and elevation changes throughout the course. I suggest trail shoes for good traction going up and down the hills. Please consult the Dirty Spokes Web Site for direction to the venue, parking, packet pickup, course preview and awards. Remember both races start at 8:00 am sharp. This is the third race of the Off the Grid Series which runs July to December. Hope to see everyone on Saturday. Remember to hydrate on Saturday to prevent negative health outcomes. See you Saturday!
