It’s been a bit since Smokin Pandas has been able to compete but I guess we still got it. We headed out to the Grimes County Go Texan Cookoff with our friends in The Zoo.

Smokin Panda’s BBQ Team had the pleasure to join many of our closest friends to team up once again with The Cowboys for Heroes Fund at the Fort Hood Bumpers and BBQ event to show support for our military. Thank you to all that answered the call this year. The turn out was AMAZING to say the least.

Well Smokin Panda’s took Mrs Panda out to the Pattinson steak and one bite challenge against some of my best friends out there. We had a great time and walked away with some hardware.

C4H and Fort Hood are hosting a Togetherness Day for soldiers and families who have returned from or are waiting deployment. With the addition of a Classic Car Show, we are expecting to serve up to 20,000 warriors and their families.

Classic Car Show, Entertainment, Arts and Craft Booths, Pumpkin Patch, Face Painting and FREE FOOD!

Friday, October 21:
Arrival / Team Set-up in the afternoon.
Social/Happy Hour starting at 7 PM. C4H will supply steaks to be shared off the grill. BYOB and chairs. Please RSVP.

Hamburgers
Wieners
Sausage on a stick
6 processed steer – we will organize the beef selections available for you to cook once we have all cook teams.

Since we are doing full service cook stations, every team needs to be prepared to prep, cook, clean and serve one item off the menu above. All menu items will be accompanied with a serving bowl, flatware, napkins and packets of condiments are made available. Please be aware that if you are cooking a menu item that requires any item besides the meat, your team is responsible for bringing those items. Ie: vegetables, tortillas, etc. each cook team will need to supply everything (except meat) to cook and serve our guests.

Food will be served from 11:00 - 2pm (or until we run out).

We will be set up on a grassy area and we are allowed to use firewood, charcoal, propane, etc… There are rules for open fires on the Base, if you cook on the ground, you must have a wind-shield of some kind to block the wind.

There are two requirements for everyone coming on the base:
Everyone gets vetted: This information will be collected when you register.
Every year, everyone must complete a Food Safety Course and Quiz. Please download Course, the Quiz will be sent to you after you register.

​We will need between 20-25 total cook teams and about 200 volunteers to make this event work. With that said, there is a vetting process to get on the military Base. If you are willing to volunteer to be a cook team lead and are bringing a team of 15 team members, please have everyone register individually and then they can note which cook team they are associated with.
