Join us for Level 1 kayak instruction. Often called Introduction to Kayaking, focuses on the foundational skills needed for safe and enjoyable flatwater paddling. It covers entering and exiting the kayak, basic paddling techniques, turning, steering, and landing. A key aspect is learning how to launch, propel, stop, turn, and maneuver the kayak effectively. Level 1 instruction also emphasizes safety, including personal flotation devices (PFDs), vessel safety checks, and basic rescue techniques like capsizing and re-entry.

Today we participated in Holly Orr’s intro to racing paddling clinic. We learned so much as she is such a great teacher. We look forward to putting her lessons into motion as well as taking the next level instruction from her in the future. It’s not to late to sign up for the River clean up happening Saturday March 2, 2024. It is a great time giving back and meeting so many awesome people supporting the same good cause. Those that volunteer will receive free camping, Bbq and t-shirts,.

Earlier this year I participated with Kayaking Houston in the great Texas river clean up for my first time! It was so fun and met so many amazing people! Day one of Fall River Training is in the books. A few folks were introduced to river kayaking for the first time, a daughter got introduced to what mom and future step dad do when they disappear to the river and a couple of folks hit their first roll. Ready for day two tomorrow at Rio Vista.
