Our mission is to guide young people to build a relationship with Jesus, share His love with others, and develop strong Christian character through the sport of wrestling. Many youth wrestling clubs want to throw kids out on the mat with no experience. It is essential to prepare each kid to understand and be confident in their abilities before they do battle on the mat. DWC focuses on teaching boy
s to set goals for themselves at every level, so each boy knows what they are working towards. DWC always recommends that no one should compete in a competition their first season, and the team will not be competing this year since it will be a first for most. Wrestling is a combat sport and very competitive, and each wrestler needs to be fully prepared before competing. Wrestling is just a tool that helps teach boys hard work, dedication, discipline, self-control and humility. There is a lot more to life than wrestling. Each boy is created to be followers of Christ and grows to be leaders in their families and communities. That is why wrestling is only part of the Disciples Wrestling Club. Each week the boys will have homework. Bible verse memorization, a special task to help the family around the house or a neighbor and a workout to do at home. I encourage parents to participate in the homework as much as possible. If you are new to the sport of wrestling, I don’t want to scare you into thinking that if you sign your boy up for wrestling he is going straight into the military and he will never smile again! Wrestling practice is really fun! Boys naturally love to wrestle. Roughhousing is the standard of living when you’re a boy. If nothing else, your boy will be worn out by the time you get home, and the lamp won’t get knocked over that night!
