**From Nancy: Today should be the first day of a new dance year. Unfortunately, for Danceworks, that is not the case. There are many reasons why we decided to close. I’ve always tried to keep our studio fun and affordable, hoping everyone gained some talent and self esteem along the way. Rent, utilities, insurance, costumes, and competition fees just keep going up, making it harder to maintain our affordability. Social media is involved more and more. I miss dance the way it used to be.
My teachers, Amy, and myself have enjoyed our students though the years. They were always kind, respectful, and enthusiastic. The parents have been helpful and supportive. Many of our past students and parents have become life-long friends! My heart would be remiss not to mention the names of the of the lovely souls that have passed on…Melanie Huntsman, Anne Lazzerini, Lisa Leimester, Roschelle Wilt, and Julie Yates. If I missed anyone, please let me know.
I will miss you all. Please keep in touch. Amy passes on any messages or photos on-line, or please call or write. If you see me, please say “hello”! It may take me a minute to place you, because you are 8–10 years old in my mind! Thanks for the years of fun!

**From Amy: I would just like to say thank you to everyone that has called, emailed, text, sent cards, or came to our last recital to say goodbye. Special thanks to Shelly Vaughn for putting this video together for me (and my mom) and the girls that participated in it. I love having this memory! I always knew many of these kids meant so much to me. I guess I never stopped to think that maybe I meant something to some of them too! You can see the video here…

Teachers, while dance is important, please try to remember to still allow your students to be kids. Dancers, remember that while competitions are fun and exciting, you are not defined by that placement you receive. I have never once in all the time I have performed or taught been asked if I ever got a double platinum!
I am going to leave this FB page up. It is full of memories, photos, and even some recitals. To end, I am going to post my top 10 favorite dances that I choreographed from the past few years that I have videos of. Hope you enjoy.
