It’s that time again….to give credit where credit is due!

(I look forward to making this post every year, but I am only human and inevitably, I will have forgotten to thank someone. Please know it was not intentional and if I did forget someone, drop them a line in the comments below!)

Beau Blake is our club president. When he’s not dedicating his efforts to being chute boss or driving the 4-wheeler for our ropers, or the endless list of other things he does for Custer Rodeo Club, he can be found managing the PV Ranch in Hysham with his wife, Tami, and their four kids. This man has a full plate, so we appreciate the time he puts in for our club.

LaDona Yerian is our vice-president and main timer. She keeps all the times, points, and more stats than I probably even know about and ensures that all these things are kept up to date. She knows every kid and their horse that rides into that arena and her love for this little club is unmatched.

Belva Arvik is the club’s treasurer. She’s in charge of the day-to-day financials, the membership paperwork, and she helps LaDona time at our events. She’s grandma to Asher, Emi, Marsi and Muggins, but she cheers for every kid that comes through the gate! Belva and her husband, Harold, are our “Sweethearts” of the rodeo club!

Tami Blake is the club’s secretary, announcer and sound director (her play list is EPIC!). She is also the Blake Family Chaos Coordinator, and she usually has a few extra kids tagging along that she manages chaos for, too! Her heart and soul are completely devoted to her family, but she’s carved out a special little spot for Custer Rodeo Club.

James Irish is the man in the arena and provides some of the stock for our last event. He works hard to keep your kids as safe as he possibly can. I’ve always said his true calling, aside from being a cowboy and a dad, was to be a teacher. The man has the patience of a saint and he’s always ready and willing to help a new member learn an event. James is so grateful to be able to watch the next generation fall in love with rodeo, a sport which has afforded him so many opportunities in life.

Mandi and Susan Watson make, what I STILL believe to be, the best breakfast burritos and cheeseburgers in at least 4 counties. Thank you for your hard work providing us with food and beverages; we know it isn’t easy making all that food to haul up to the concession area, but the two of you show up with smiles on your faces! Fun fact: all the proceeds from the concession stand goes right back to the club, so thank you for that, too!

Loren Walker, Jeb & KayDee Olson, Mark Engel and Hannah Knudsen: thank you for running the in and out gates, for making sure each contestant is ready to go, and assisting them in entering & leaving the arena safely.

Jim Scott, Caleb Scott, Teka Larson, Jeb & KayDee Olson and Hannah Knudsen: thank you for flagging our events. It isn’t the most glamorous job, but it is a necessary one! We are very thankful you show up and lend a helping hand when needed.

Rusty Turner and Rob Hilder: thank you for supplying our equine partners with water at each event. The time it takes you to fill the tanks and haul them to the arena is not lost on us and we appreciate your efforts each and every time.

Lacy Rogers, Tori Moehr, Kelly Domagala and Hannah Knudsen: thank you for supplying goats and helping with the goat events. You gals bring so much help and knowledge to the table and we appreciate you!

Jordan Knudsen: thank you for allowing us to use your sound system! Your generosity is appreciated and so is your assistance in helping us set it up at each event.

Loren Walker, Jeb Olson and their crews: thank you for the beautiful updates to the arena and crows nest. There is a lot that happens within the fence of that arena – and it isn’t just rodeo. Character is built and special memories are made. Thank you for helping to make that possible.

Beau Blake, James Irish, Rob Hilder, Travis & Will Choat: thank you for standing up at each event and leading us during Cowboy Church. The world stands ready to disciple our children if we don’t, and we are blessed to have such Godly men and young men spreading the Good Word to those beautiful little souls.

If you've stuck with me this long: Thank YOU to all the moms, dads, grandpas, grandmas, aunts, uncles and friends for coming to support your rodeo athlete and their friends. It takes a village to make this work, and we have the best village!

It wasn’t that long ago that a handful of parents decided we should try hosting some kid rodeos. A handful of those kids showed up and had a whole lot of fun, and now, just a few short years later, we have approximately 73 contestants - We love this!

The Custer Rodeo Club has hosted many events and been the face of many things, but I think we have finally found our calling. It has been an absolute honor to watch your kids learn and grow and we are forever thankful to have you here with us.

It appears Mother Nature is going to hold off on the rain for Sunday! All systems are a go for our Sunday - Funday! We hope to see you there!!

And!! A fun surprise, thanks to Mandi! Colstrip Brain Freeze will be spending the day with us and providing some yummy treats! I know I’ll definitely be in line!!

**IF something changes, we will update you, here, by Saturday evening!**
