The LSBC is in the process of raising funds for the 2017 striper raising/stocking season. Below is the "wish" list of equipment requested by the fishery folk @ Wildlife Resources Division - Georgia DNR for the 2017 growing season. Nearly all items on the list are related to fish hauling or stocking. We want the strongest and healthiest fry to be stocked. The LSBC focuses it's efforts on equipment donations of items that benefit Lake Lanier directly, the main hatchery at Richmond Hill or the other hatcheries that raise the Atlantic strain of striper. Atlantic strain striper are the type stocked Lanier.,Not %100 sure but lakes Hartwell, ClarksHill, Russell, Nottely, Carters, and Allatoona are among some other state lakes that get stocked with the Atlantic strain. Any help to the hatchery system helps not only Lanier, but stripers in other state waters as well as other species, which are raised and transported from the same hatcheries. Our understanding is that there little room for expansion at ANY of the existing state hatcheries - the ones that have more water available don't have additional land available & vice versa. Assisting WRD in optimizing the existing hatchery resources to raise, transport and stock as many healthy striper fry as possible is the goal!
