City of Cumberland Announces Temporary Closure for 9/11 Memorial Service

The City of Cumberland would like to notify the public that City Hall will be closed for business on Friday, September 11, 2026 between 8:00-9:30 AM.

This temporary closure will allow employees to prepare and attend the 9/11 25th Anniversary Memorial Ceremony being held by the City of Cumberland Fire and Police Departments.

The event will be held on the plaza in front of City Hall, the public is welcome to attend. Bedford Street, between N. Centre and Mechanic St. will be closed to thru traffic, but will be available for anyone needing handicap parking access to the event. One lane of Frederick Street, between Mechanic St. and N. Centre St. will be closed for the event as well.

City offices will reopen for business at 9:30 AM.

Any questions may be directed to City Hall at 301-722-2000.

Well folks, all good things must come to an end! Yesterday marked the end of the 87th season at Constitution Park Pool. The Parks & Rec team sincerely thanks everyone for another great pool season!

A big thank-you to the Inbetween Cafe for serving up all those delicious treats! We appreciate you!

A great big shout-out to our lifeguards this year! We had some returning lifeguards who helped keep the ship steered in the right direction, along with some newcomers who took to the job like they had been doing it all along. You all did an awesome job!

And, way to go, Mason! Mason took over as pool manager this year and did an outstanding job. He had some big shoes to fill, but he stepped up to the challenge and knocked it out of the park!

Lastly, a big thank-you to Public Works! There is so much that goes on behind the scenes to keep the pool running smoothly. Without their hard work and dedication, we wouldn’t have the gem that we have!

Thank you to everyone who helped make Season 87 a great one. We’ll see you all next summer for Year 88! ☀️🏊‍♂️

Our Lunar Observing event at Constitution Park is cancelled for tonight due to the weather forecast. We will be having another event (same time and location) again on Saturday 9/19.
