Last night (6-4-26), we had our largest participation of the season, with 15 disc golfers joining our Thursday night tag league. We played at Mile Lane Disc Golf for the second time this season, and the course is in excellent condition with the work Colby has been putting in.
With the large number of golfers, we moved to the tournament layout (12 short + 12 long). This didn't present much of a challenge for Derrick Davis, who took first place for the 5th time in the first 10 weeks of the season. Derrick finished with a hot round of -16 (58). He finished the evening with eighteen birdies and two bogeys. This was one stroke better than second place. Scott Mallery finished at a -15 round of 59. Colby Mallery was one stroke back in third at -14 (60). For the first time this season, we had three ladies compete in the female division - Shania Farris took 1st, Quinn Mallery 2nd, and Krystal Mallery 3rd.
The complete standings are in the photo.
Derrick Davis took home the CTP disc for the evening.
Two weeks ago, we had eight golfers compete at Hoffman Park Disc Golf Course after the recent heavy rains forced us to move from Mile Lane. On May 28th, Nick Russ shot a -9 round of 45 to take home the top spot in Frostburg. Nick shot a clean round with nine birdies. That was two strokes better than Derrick Davis, who took second with a -7 (47). Scott Mallery and Crosby Abe finished tied for 3rd with -5 (49)'s.
Derrick also took home the CTP this evening.
We continue to encourage everyone to come out to the new Jim Buser Memorial Course at Central to play some leisure rounds; the course will continue to be cleaned up as more folks play. WMDG tag league plays every Thursday night through September.
Registration begins at 5:00, and tee-off is at 5:15. Cost is $5 per night, and the tag costs $10. Or you can purchase a season pass for $50 (youth and females are $25)
Next week (6/11), we will be back at The Glades at Meshach Run Disc Golf Course for the first time this season. A great chance for a warm-up before our Checkered Chains Open 2026. Hope to see you then!
