Congrats and a big thank you to all the athletes that participated in the 2nd Annual Essers Games!

We had a very close competition this year, with Coach Liza willing her athletes to a 2nd win in a row, but this year in an exciting turn of events, a shared victory with Coach Macty’s team!

Thank you to for her beautiful vision and leadership for this event, for being the best MC out there, and our two refs (who are athletes)!

Another year of community, laughter, and fun competition that included relay races, tug of war, partner sled pushes, and more was had.

We are excited to share more photos and videos from this fantastic event in the coming days!

Happy birthday!

Czar is one of our most dedicated athletes. She trained in a sling for several weeks, and despite a crazy schedule, always finds a way to get in 3x/week.

Being British, she has taught us all a wide-range of new words. For example, “Prizzle Swizzle” is British for “Palm Springs”.
Who knew?

In return for this knowledge, she requires us to use the massage stick on her legs, a service no one else receives.

Czar always brings a fun energy to the facility, even wearing an on-brand t-shirt for the Dumptruck Challenge we are running this summer.

Thank you for being bloody silly and looking forward to Essers of Prizzle Swizzle one day.

Special shoutout to who has trained with us for years and is moving to Miami with and co.

He’s one of our most consistent athletes and definitely one of the funniest. The progress he has made in the last few years in particular has been really impressive.

He’s so committed that he basically has their home gym set-up already, so that there is no lag time with his gains 💪

Thank you for always having top-notch movie/tv show recommendations, the best one-liners, and giving me the joy of seeing you convince any new coach that they were hurting your low back.

You will be truly missed! See you in Miami though 🕺🏻

Happy birthday Elisha!!

You’ll kill me for bringing this photo back into the fray, but this is a great representation of the WORK you put in upwards of 5x/week.

You are an amazing representative of what Essers stands for and the whole team is so impressed with the progress you have made over the past year.

No matter how hard a training kicks your butt or how badly you resist doing Get-Ups, you always get through it and end with a smile.

He does such a good job teaching movements that sometimes he gets a little carried away, as in the above photo, where he is demonstrating to one of our younger athletes how he twerks to avoid low back pain.

When we coach, we do whatever is easiest for our client to understand the movement/concept.
In many cases, this involves EXTERNAL cueing.

In the above photo, Coach Juan uses a dowel to ensure Jack sets his core in the proper position to do a great pushup.

It’s easy to let the lower back sag during pushups. By having the dowel to push back against, the core can “activate” and this feeling can be ingrained until the dowel no longer needs to be used.

This is a far more effective tactic than “keep your core tight” or “hips up”.

When you train with us, you will actually LEARN what you are doing vs. going through the motions or wondering if you are actually doing something right. And we will use whatever tool necessary to make that learning accessible for you.

Happy birthday to our OG athlete 🥳🥳🥳

Her consistency and dedication over the past 7 years has been unmatched…that’s right, outside of travel, she has not missed a training in 7 years.

She always complains, but she always performs, and we love her for that.

Thank you for all of your unfiltered thoughts and being such a positive presence and example for those at Essers. You’re one-of-a-kind.

If you have a son or daughter who wants to improve their sport performance and be taught how to properly strength-train for life, we would love to meet them.

With all other factors controlled, the stronger athlete is almost always going to have the advantage. And you can’t rely on a school weight-training class to teach them the necessary skills…individual coaching is essential when you are first learning to train.

Have an amazing time in the East Coast - see you later this year!
