Today’s travel class was a great hands-on learning experience! We practiced searching several different areas and items, including an exterior area, containers, a porch, a vehicle, a trailer, and even a canoe. It was a valuable day filled with teamwork, learning, and real-world training opportunities.
A big thank you to our host for inviting us to your home and allowing us to use your property for training.

"Oliver had a wonderful time at the Richmond Dog Obedience Club this weekend and was quite successful. Many thanks to the club, volunteers, and judges Teresa Hicks and Beth Ann Sabo for a nicely run trial. While Oliver is still a young Aussie he was very focused on his container searches and received his Novice Container Title. In moving up to Advanced he not only qualified but got a 3rd placement and the judges and people in the room clapped for him! He was thrilled!

When it was time to take Oliver’s photo he jumped into the chair, looked at his ribbons and posed. He also moved over to be sure you could see his rosettes! You can tell this Aussie is very proud of his accomplishments! I’m so proud of him for not losing focus and working well with me on his alerts.

Thanks to Annabelle Weaver Cambier and to Anke King who trained him so well. Thanks to Patty Mele Thompson and Greywood Farm Aussies for this lovely and talented boy. I have high hopes for his future in scent work and nose work as he also passed his NW1 on the first try."

Congratulations 🎊 to Team Uschi👏🎁🌟🐾🍀🥳🥰🤩🎉🍾🎊
"We had lots of fun this weekend at Richmond Dog Obedience Club’s Container & Buried trial. Uschi earned her 10th qualifying run in Excellent Buried, completing her Elite Buried title (SBEE). That final Q also secured her overall Excellent Elite title (SWEE)! We also added qualifying legs toward her Elite Master Container and Elite Master Buried titles, making it a very productive weekend.

RDOC hosted another well run trial. Everything moved so efficiently that we completed all of our runs in 3-4 hours on both days. Thank you to the volunteers and our judges Theresa Hicks and Beth Ann Sabo for making it all happen.

Another highlight this weekend was running Buried off leash after encouragement from Theresa Myers, Elizabeth Staley, and Meghan Rice. While we practice Container and Buried off leash at home, I was hesitant to try it in a trial. But we gave it a shot and it went great. It was especially nice to hear Judge Beth Ann compliment my off leash handling."

Congratulations 🎊 to Team Talvi 🎊🎁🌟🐾🍀🥳🥰🤩🎉🍾
"Exactly one year ago, it became painfully obvious (literally and figuratively) that Talvi’s agility career needed to come to an end much sooner than I had hoped. Last year at this time we attended the CPE Agility National as our last hurrah after Tavi had been diagnosed with lumbar sacral disease in March of 2025. Despite intensive therapy and rehab, it became clear that long drives to competitions and the subsequent athleticism required to do agility was causing my girl unnecessary pain. I had been planning for a gradual retirement so a sudden end was hard emotionally, but it was the right thing to do.

Last summer I signed Talvi up for nose work classes hoping she would enjoy it as a retirement activity. We all know a dog, a Belgian in particular, needs to have a job and be active well into her senior years, so I was thrilled when Talvi got excited about nose work. Originally my plan was to just take classes and enjoy taking our relationship in a new direction, but as we progressed I started to wonder if Talvi might like to compete. Two weeks ago we attended our first AKC scent work trial and Talvi let me know that yeah, she could possibly play sniff sniff in other situations. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Today, Talvi said, “BRING IT ON!” and kicked butt. Okay, maybe what she said was, “You didn’t feed me breakfast and I KNOW you have steak in the pouch, so FEED ME!” 😆🤣🥰
Anyway, I’m really proud of my girl and I’m enjoying taking our connection to a different level. After the abrupt end to our agility journey, I feel so blessed to have found something that my girl and I can still do together that she truly enjoys. I am also blessed to have the very knowledgeable and experienced Anke King helping us on this journey. But the ultimate blessing is everyday that my 11 year old bestest girl is happy and active. ❤️❤️❤️"
