Trevor "The Bear" Pennington wins second MMA Match
Our homegrown 6'4 205 lb Culpeper native is making quite an impact in the cage! Trevor Pennington started training 5 years in martial arts at Mt. Kim Martial Arts in kickboxing and judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu - MMA through Yamasaki Academy. In those five years he has trained hard almost everyday, and it shows. He debuted his skills in his first cage match in South Carolina against a tough opponent finishing him with a bulldog choke in the second round. Not one to rest on his laurels he accepted another fight with a bigger promotion called Cagezilla based out of Manassas VA. This past weekend he won via a brutal neck crank in only a minute and 32 seconds in! "The atmosphere was intense, we had Master Gabby Byrne and I Cornering him and like 30 of his friends, family, and coaches were there to support him!" The guy is a killer with a great work ethic!" When the bell rang Trevor came out throwing some light jabs gaging his distance and feeling out his opponent before throwing a slew of punches that hit the mark before snapping his opponent down into a front head pinch. From there he took his back and threw some punishing shots from the back mount. Trevor worked his forearm in front of his face and tried to bring his nose to his spinal cord, winning via a neck crank. Some of his teammates are looking to make their debut this year as well. Trevor has an opportunity to fight later in the year internationally in the Dominican Republic through our Yamasaki Academy affiliation. Keep your eye out for future fight news from these hometown savages.
