Happy Memorial Day

Honor. Remember. Never Forget.

Most youth athletes don’t need more speed drills—they need a stronger foundation first.

Movement Quality → Strength → Power → Speed

When kids get stronger, they produce more force = faster sprinting, higher jumps, better performance.

Today’s focus:
Hinge strength (deadlifts) + single-leg strength (RFESS)
➡️ Build the engine strong before chasing speed

Stronger + more stable = faster, more resilient, less injury.

Train it right early or pay for it later.

Your experience is not always absolute truth.

“I tried that already.”

Maybe you did. But one failed attempt doesn’t define what’s possible—it often just reflects where your mindset, strategy, discipline, or consistency was at that moment.

There’s a difference between your truth (what you experienced) and absolute truth (what is actually possible). People often confuse the two.

Adjust. Learn. Execute again. Keep going. 💯🔥

Speed isn’t just sprinting.
It’s how well an athlete can absorb and redirect force into the ground.

And that doesn’t start with max effort jumps.

It starts with control.

🚨 Before intermediate Jump training, young athletes must show:

✔️ Soft, controlled landings
✔️ Strong single-leg balance
✔️ Knees tracking over toes (no collapse)
✔️ Stable core & athletic posture
✔️ Ability to “stick” a small hop

📈 Jump Training Progression

🟢 Level 1 – Elastic Foundation
Double Leg Pogos
2–3 x 15–20 reps
→ Teaches ankle stiffness & rhythm

🟡 Level 2 – Unilateral Control
Single Leg Pogos
2–3 x 8–12 each leg
→ Exposes imbalances & builds foot/ankle strength

🟠 Level 3 – Horizontal Projection
Broad Jump (2 ➡️ 2 Stick)
3 x 4–6 reps
→ Learn to project AND land under control

🔵 Level 4 – Unilateral Force Absorption
2 ➡️ 1 Landing
2–3 x 3–5 each leg
→ Teaches deceleration & knee stability

🔴 Level 5 – Reactive Rhythm & Coordination
2 ➡️ L ➡️ R ➡️ 2 Bounds
2–3 x 3–4 sequences
→ Now we integrate timing, rhythm & sprint transfer

Turn the brain ON before you turn the burners ON 🧠🔥💪🏽🔥

A Reaction Drill to warm up the body and shift young athletes into competition mode before session work begins.

🏁 Round 1 (Pre-Set Direction):
Coach assigns LEFT or RIGHT
On cue → sprint that direction
Catch the falling stick before it drops

🏁 Round 2 (Live Reaction):
Listen for the direction
Coach calls LEFT or RIGHT
React to the correct direction
Sprint & catch the falling stick

Now you’re training:
✅ First-step quickness
✅ Reactive decision making
✅ Acceleration mechanics
✅ Competitive focus

2 x 3–5 reactive reps each

Perfect for baseball athletes ⚾️ — it’s just like stealing bases when runners are live at all 4 bags.

Fun. Engaging. Skill-building.
Prime the mind. Prep the body. Compete with intent.

Speed isn’t just trained… it’s taught.

We break sprint mechanics down so young athletes can build the skill then chase speed:

🔹 Upper Body Mechanics
½ Kneeling Arm Swings
• Big arm swings
• Fast exchanges
• Trunk stability
2× 3–10 sec bursts

🔹 Lower Body Mechanics
Sprinter Leg Strike
• Rapid hip/leg exchange
• Powerful foot strike into the plate/box
2× 6–8 each leg

🔹 Acceleration Starts
Load the ankle → knee → hip → trunk
Project horizontal force with proper body & shin angles.

Build the pattern.
Own the positions.
Then apply the speed.

Life’s been lifin’… and this recovery season hasn’t been easy.

A few hardships and setbacks these past few years — including multiple surgeries last year.
But in every comeback, it’s never if… it’s when.

Sometimes God hits the pause button on your path of comfort to challenge and strengthen the imbalanced parts of your life.

Have faith. Be patient in your becoming.

Just a little test drive today —leveling back up in the grind.

It’s been a while since I hit the hundos…and it felt GOOD today.

Under construction…but never out of service.

02/13/2026

Be intentional and execute.

Train your body to move with power—
but your mind to move with control.

Grind it out.
Control your breathing.
Stay connected.
Keep tension.
Move with precision.
Don’t leak energy.
