These are the first 3 handled box calls I have ever made. Sometimes in our older age we have to be pushed (more like a shove) into stepping out of our comfort zone to try something new. Thanks to my good customer and friend Cal Tutak for that push. I was not very excited about trying this new to me style of box call, but during the build process and getting them tuned they kind of grew on me. With that being said, I will be making more in the near future.

This has been the biggest challenge I have faced as a call maker yet. I had a costumer drop a box on my driveway when I was not home with a piece of a fence post that he says had been in the ground for over 100 years. It was pure fat lighter pine. He had a note in the box asking if I could make a box call out of it. I called him and told him that I didn’t think it would work but I would try. I started to give up after about 10 minutes when I saw how big of a mess it was making on my bandsaw and bench sander. It was a sticky mess.
I am shocked to say the least at how it turned out!
