The Birchwood Racing Team is a Twin Cities-area racing team and cycling club dedicated to the positive experiences of cycling. Birchwood is a committed group of cyclists brought together by our shared love of good food and good bikes. We are racers working for our teammates in a local crit. We are riders gathering for a casual spin and coffee on a Sunday morning. We are mountain bikers calculating

the best line to rail a berm. We are triathletes jumping from water to bike to shoes. We are cylocrossers practicing remounts after leaping a barrier. We are Nordic skiers gliding along the trail.

Congratulations to our new MN State Champ, James Van Sloun! And also to Emma Malla-McDermott who got 2nd place in her field. Incredible performance by West River Racing.

Ben also raced and enjoyed his brief moments of glory in a two lap breakaway to kick off the M4/5 race.

What a Weekend for Megan Webster!

As if winning her age group in the 10K TT at the MN Senior Games on Saturday wasn’t enough, Megan Webster went straight to the track and medaled in both the 400m and 800m events.

Then today, she competed in the Women’s Triathlon at Lake Nokomis, taking 1st in her age group and finishing in the top 10% of nearly 900 competitors!

Congratulations to our West River Racing crew on a fantastic weekend at the Minnesota Senior Games!

Megan Webster won her age group in the 10K TT, with Lisa Britton taking 2nd. Gina Oesterreich finished 4th in the 10K TT and qualified for Nationals.

David Mann won his age group in the 20K road race, and Rick Brauer took 3rd in the 40K road race.

David, Rick, James Van Sloun, and Gina all qualified for the 2027 National Senior Games in Tulsa!

And an honorable mention to Dick Stemper, who set a 5K TT personal best of 8:32, knocking 30 seconds off his time from two years ago.

Awesome racing, PRs, podiums, and plenty of WRR representation. Congratulations, everyone!
