Testing Day; testing for yellow strip; The Yellow Strip/Belt test is important for checking a beginner’s understanding of basic taekwondo skills, fundamental blocks, kicks, stances, sparring drills, and basic Korean terms. It also measures theoretical knowledge, confidence, discipline, consistency in training, and proper etiquette, helping determine if the student is ready to progress to the next level. Congratulations team we are so proud of each and everyone!

Today, April 11, 2026, we celebrate the 71st anniversary of the naming of Taekwon-Do.

On 11 April 1955, the name Taekwon-Do was officially presented, marking the beginning of a journey that would grow into a global martial art practiced by millions. For 71 years, Taekwon-Do has represented discipline, respect, perseverance, and continuous self-development.

Our global community continues to honor this legacy through shared milestones. And just three weeks ago, we also celebrated the 60th anniversary of the International Taekwon-Do Federation, marking six decades of dedication to developing and preserving Taekwon-Do worldwide.

As we mark 71 years since the naming of our art, we celebrate our history and look forward to the future together.

What does Taekwon-Do mean to you? Write is in the comments.

Today, March 22, 2026, we proudly celebrate the 60th anniversary of the International Taekwon-Do Federation.

From its founding in 1966 to a global family spanning over 100 countries, the ITF continues to carry forward the vision of General Choi Hong Hi and the true spirit of Taekwon-Do.

Behind this milestone lies a powerful story—one that goes beyond technique, into perseverance, conviction, and the dream of a young and sickly calligraphy student who helped shape our art.

On this special occasion, we invite all members of our ITF family to reflect on our shared history and rediscover the origins of what unites us.

Sine wave - the ups and downs.
Sine wave (sinewave) in ITF Taekwondo is a movement principle, not a "sign wave," where the body moves in a down-up-down motion to generate maximum power. By relaxing, rising, and dropping the body weight, practitioners use gravity to increase kinetic energy, primarily applied in technical patterns, stances, and hand techniques to enhance impact force.

Symbolism Behind the Method:
The Knot: Represents your, and your instructor's, commitment to your training.
Evenness: The two ends hanging evenly represent the balance of effort and ease, as well as the balance between mind and body.
The Loop: A correctly tied belt forms a "fortune cookie" shape in the knot, representing a complete, secure, and ready-to-train state.

Receiving a Taekwondo uniform (dobok) as a new student is a crucial milestone that symbolizes commitment, unity, and the adoption of a disciplined, respectful mindset. It serves as a psychological tool that helps transition from daily life to training mode, fostering a sense of belonging to the martial arts community.

The opening of a Taekwondo class, characterized by bowing in, meditating, and reciting the oath and tenets, is essential for establishing discipline, respect, and focus. It mentally prepares students for training by fostering a positive, safe, and respectful environment, separating the dojang from daily distractions.
