Virginia Lions Australian Rules Football Club We are the Virginia Lions 💪🦁 - The Pride of Virginia & home of Aussie Rules Footy in Virginia

More than just a Mens and Womens footy team, we aim to connect and collaborate with other athletic and sporting communities and be a family friendly club encouraging all family members to come and have a kick! Based in Richmond-Central VA we're continuing to develop hubs of Aussie Rules Football players & supporters across the Commonwealth of Virginia with strong growth already in Hampton Roads/Virginia Beach, Williamsburg, Charlottesville & Fredericksburg

Our season runs roughly Spring thru Fall (with a short break mid summer). We have weekly (midweek) practice scheduled at each location and aim to get together Saturdays when games are not scheduled either as a combined or independent location sessions:

RVA: Thu 6pm - Training @ Westhampton Field (corner of Patterson & Maple)
HR/VaBch: 2026 ~ tba
Williamsburg/W&M: 2026 ~ tba
Charlottesville: 2026 ~ tba
Fredericksburg: 2026 ~ tba

Huge weekend for your Virginia (and Brisbane) Lions!! Started off with a training session in Richmond before backing the Brissy boys to 3-peat down in Melbourne. Huge scenes this weekend in Richmond as we continue towards Nats in Sarasota, Florida in October. Definitely lots of buzz around the club as we close in on the end of another strong season. Come on out and get amongst it before the Winter weather rolls in and we’ll get you in a Lions jersey before too soon!!

Your Virginia Lions have a great opportunity to even the season series versus Baltimore next Saturday, Sept 12th.

The Dockers took the first match convincingly in Baltimore, but travel to the self-proclaimed, “Footy Field of Dreams” in beautiful Crozet, Virginia

It’s the final match of the season for Lions and location of King Family Vineyards will only look more stunning as fall approaches.

It’s the final tune up before the men’s team travel to Nationals in October.

Come support the Lions at the Vineyard one last time in 2026, next Saturday, 12pm.

Socials will follow at Pro Re Nata where the tales from the field grow, and foes on the field, are found as friends at the pub.

This Saturday (15 Aug) your Virginia Lions pickup the second half of the season back at King Family Vineyards to take on our familiar rivals from the south, North Carolina’s NC Tigers (Raleigh) + Charlotte Blue Heelers + Wilmington Bombers

First bounce is 1PM.

Bring a friend, bring a chair, grab some shade and enjoy afternoon footy at its finest; pristine backdrops with a glass of w**e in hand. Food trucks will be onsite (Luce and Vision BBQ ) this saturday.

Today’s the day!  The Virginia Lions are back in action this afternoon as we head to Herring Park looking to put together four strong quarters of footy.

First bounce is at 12:00 PM.  Whether you’re a longtime supporter or seeing Aussie Rules for the first time, come on out, enjoy the afternoon, and cheer on the maroon and gold.

After the final siren sounds, the social continues at M8 Brewing. Come grab a pint, relive the highlights (and conveniently forget the lowlights), and spend the afternoon with both clubs.
