Story of the day. Being part Scot, I can relate to this.
True story: My buddy and I were playing golf in a course (Nairns) near Inverness, Scotland. There was a starter’s shack where the little grizzled bearded Scotsman ran things. I stepped inside. He looked up and said, "Aye ?"
“Sir, I’d like to play the course. “
“Aye, 50 pounds.”
I paid him; he handed me a scorecard and a small pencil.
We loved the course and returned to play it again the next day.
Same little man in the starter’s shack. I stepped in.
He looked up “Aye”?
“Sir, we’d like to play the course again today.”
“Aye, 50 pounds.”
I gave him the money, and he gave me a scorecard again.
“Aye?” He said as I stood for a moment.
“Sir, may I please have a pencil?”
“Aye, laddie, didn’t I give you a pencil yesterday!”
“Uh, yes sir, (as i slinked away)”
