The next Raven Rocks Run will be Sunday, November 14th, 2021 at 9am. The race will start in the Meadow — same spot where the Leatherman’s Loop begins. Instead of heading towards the river as the Lo

op does, the Raven Rocks 10k course climbs up eventually reaching the two highest points in the park (Raven Rocks Overlook and the Fire Tower Summit) before heading back for a downhill and flat finish. The course passes by the site of the former Cross River Mountain fire tower which is the highest point in the park. We are supporting the Trailside Museum in their efforts to bring back the tower to its former spot in the park. The Raven Rocks 10k Run is participating in the Trail Mix Trail Series as the sixth and final race of that series. ( note: trail mix series will resume in 2022 )

You don’t have to participate in the series to run the Raven Rocks Run though — all are welcome! In addition to the run, we are also putting on the Raven 100k Challenge for the month of November. Run, hike, or walk 100k in November. Unlock achievement badges and compare your results with other participants. Badges earned will become part of the finisher “woodallions” we will send you after the challenge completes. Visit ravenrocksrun.org for more details. Ravens and Crows. How to tell the difference. It’s not easy - but the gronk gronk vs. caw caw is a giveaway. Also ravens tend to be in pairs not big groups.

Fire tower restoration is moving along nicely. Several sections have been built at the site of the tower - the top canopy and another of the sections are partially built. The foundations are underway as well. If you can visit and check it out definitely do it! and visit crmfiretower.org for historic photos and information about the tower and restoration.

In addition to the Raven Rocks Run 10k race on Nov 9th we are having the virtual Raven 100k November Challenge — it began on November 1st (but you can sign up through Nov 15th and enter your prior days mileage).

In the Raven 100k Challenge, runners, hikers, and walkers attempt to reach 100k or more on foot during November. Challenge participants can go beyond and “level up” their woodallion prize with bonus badges for 14 different achievements (some level-ups are harder than others...)

There is a discount for signing up for both the 10k race and the 100k challenge at the same time!

The November Raven 100k Challenge is underway!

NEWS: Tomorrow (11/2) at 8AM there is a course check of the Raven Rocks 10k with the SundayRuns.org runners/hikers - Meet at the Meadow Parking lot at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation.

If you are signed up for the 10k race the course check will help you see the course with others who know the way.

If you are signed up for the Raven 100k Challenge this group run will get you through 10% of the 100k in one day! And it will check off two of the badge “power ups” if you remember to take a selfie when you reach the Raven Rocks Overlook!

We already have runners, hikers, and walkers reporting their November 100k Challenge distances - if you are in the challenge you can do it too!
