The Crosbyton Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture's April business of the month is Area 51 Weapons Licensing, owned by Terry and Martha Kirk. It is headquartered at 314 W. Main in the former Jackie’s TV and Appliance store! The phone number is 806-778-2981.
The business offers concealed handgun classes. Even though Texas is constitutional carry, you can not go to other states with a weapon unless you have a concealed handgun license. Area 51 offers NRA classes such as fundamentals of firearm safety and pistol and rifle classes. Terry is also qualified as a Range Safety Officer and is a member of the NRA Golden Eagles. This licensing was obtained through a stringent set of classes, with qualifying at the DPS Tactical Center in Florence, TX. He is a certified pistol and certified rifle instructor.
Classes are scheduled in advance and cost is $100 and it includes lunch. You must furnish your own handgun and ammunition for the shooting test portion. There have already been two classes, held at the Crosby County Pioneer Memorial Museum, totaling thirty-one individuals, applying for the concealed handgun license. Watch for more classes to be scheduled in the near future. To request a class, call Terry at 806-778-2981. The class is a comfortable environment for securing the concealed handgun license, and attendees are fully prepared before taking the written test.The Chamber is proud to have Area 51 Weapons Licensing as a Chamber business member! There were two wrecks between Lorenzo and Idalou this morning. It was rainy, dark, and cold. There were police, firefighters, and Txdot workers in bright vests directing traffic.

The Crosbyton Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture held a grand opening ribbon cutting for the newly opened Fitness Center, setting a record for conducting two ribbon cuttings in one day! A crowd came to show support and tour the facility. The Fitness Center is owned by Terry and Martha Kirk. The Kirk’s formerly owned the fitness center in Idalou and realized Crosbyton needed one too! The Fitness Center is located at 314 W. Main in the former Jackie’s TV and Appliance store! The sign was designed and created by Crosbyton’s own, Ashley Faber! The phone number is 806-675-0105. The workout facility is open 24/7 as a key fob, similar to the Apple air tag provides a unique entrance to each member, allowing the member to work out when convenient.
There are treadmills, ellipticals, a rowing machine, stationary bicycles, free weights, and individual weight machines, specific to working different parts of the body. There are televisions in each room, and individual AC/heater units. A key fob/access fee to be paid initially is $50 and a single membership fee is $30, or a couple membership fee is $50 for the pair. The Fitness Center accepts credit/debit cards, Venmo, Cash App., or there is a drop box for fee drop off. Christmas or birthday gift certificates for membership are a great idea to help that loved one get in shape!
