3 years ago this month we started our Venom Softball Organization in league ball. We started playing travel ball just to get better at league. Never would have believed 3 years later we would have won way over 100 games, 10 tournaments, State Tournament last year and become one of the better teams in our area. I am so thankful for all the players and parents along the way that made this such a great ride. Peyton Pierce and Val Cruz have been there for the whole 3 years and Sarah Furrh, Aubrey Waitts, Stella Brant, Raigen Long, Emma Hobbs all have been 2 full years and Braelee Dubose and Jimena Esquivel have almost a year. Hanna Alexander joined us this spring. When you are able to keep the same 8 girls for over 2 years you get to watch them fight and get closer every weekend. Just when you think they couldn’t get better they push themselves and surprise us all. I promise you now there is not a better group of young ladies around.
This weekend in a Livingston open class tournament the girls fought some tough teams. We usually don’t name MVPs because it always takes everyone to win a tournament but Raigen Long had the weekend of her life. She hit her first out of the park homerun and hit 4 or 5 other bombs that bounced off the fence. Not only did she dominate at the plate but she dominated on the mound with 15 strikeouts in 8 innings. She was definitely unhittable.
To win a great tournament like this weekend it takes everyone to make big plays and get big hits in crucial situations. That’s where we succeeded and were better than everyone else this weekend. All the girls were a big part of this weekends results. To see the smiles and hugs from everyone the last 3 years is definitely something I will cherish the rest of my life. When they say it’s just a game they don’t have a clue!!
