Last night was a special one at Barnyard MMA.

We’re incredibly proud to congratulate Sebastian on earning his brown belt after an absolutely brutal one-hour shark tank that he pushed through all the way to the very end.

Sebastian (aka Seabass) has been a student of mine for eight to nine years, and during that time he’s been so much more than just a teammate. He’s been a great friend, a leader on the mats, and someone who always brings positive energy to everyone he trains with. Whether it’s sharing rounds, competing, or just showing up day after day.

He’s performed well in competition, but what really stands out is how he’s helped me grow — finding gaps in my game, pushing me as a coach, and sharpening me as a student of the craft. That’s not something everyone can say.

To say I’m proud of Sebastian would honestly be an understatement. Brown belt takes years of effort, setbacks, frustration, and perseverance, and last night he proved exactly why he earned it.

We’re excited for the future and proud to have Sebastian continuing this journey with Barnyard MMA — even if after that shark tank, he might be plotting his revenge on all of us 😂

So incredibly proud of our Barnyard MMA Kids Jiu-Jitsu Team today at the NAGA competition in Cincinnati. 💪🐂

These kids showed up, faced some really tough matches, and met adversity head-on with heart, grit, and great sportsmanship. Win or lose, they stayed composed, coachable, and supportive of one another—exactly what we want to see on and off the mats. We came home with plenty of medals, hardware, and belts, but more importantly we came home with valuable lessons, clear takeaways, and things we can continue to work on as we grow along this journey.

Being part of their development—especially at such a young age—is truly rewarding. The future is bright, and this team is just getting started. Proud coach. Proud gym. Proud Barnyard family. 🧡🔥
