Tonight’s Campfire Talk is shaping up to be a strong one.
I’ll be joined by Phil Kornachuk, the owner of Stonewater Training. Phil works in the world of leadership development, not from a classroom-only perspective, but through real experiences that put people in situations where they actually have to think, decide, and lead under pressure. I’ve spent time training with him and gone through one of his leadership expeditions, and I can tell you firsthand it is not theory. It is hands-on, uncomfortable at times, and it forces you to take a hard look at how you show up when things are not going your way.
That’s exactly what we’re going to get into tonight.
We’re going to talk about leadership in a way that applies across the board. Work, family, the backcountry, and everyday life. The common thread is pressure. When things get hard, when plans fall apart, when you’re tired, frustrated, or dealing with something heavy, who you are in that moment starts to show.
A big part of that comes down to your internal dialogue.
We’re going to dig into how your thoughts shape your outcomes more than most people realize. If you spiral into the negative and stay there, it pulls everything down with it. Your decisions get worse. Your energy drops. Your ability to lead yourself or others starts to break down. On the flip side, if you can manage that internal conversation and keep your head in the right place, you give yourself a real shot at working through whatever is in front of you.
This is not about pretending things are easy or forcing fake positivity. It is about awareness, control, and learning how to operate when things are not ideal.
That is where real growth happens.
