Foundations and Legacies:
Something I try to emphasize often to our athletes. Through success. Through failure. Through joy. Through fatigue. Through disappointment and discouragement.
For our 8th graders- what legacy do they leave behind? Are they remembered as leaders? As young men of character? As athletes who worked hard, with focus, determination, dedication, and passion? As teammates who built up those around them and led by example on the field, in the locker room and in the classroom?
For our 7th graders- what foundation did they build for the next season and beyond? Did they work to improve daily? Despite being new and at times maybe feeling a bit lost, did they go hard, fast, aggressive and finish- every time? Were they intentional in building habits, techniques and skills they can apply on the field, in the classroom, and at home? Did they work to have a perfect effort in every drill and every rep? Did they observe our 8th graders and learn how to be a leader and example for next year's 7th graders?
Our team's resilience in this modified spring season was admirable. The way this team came together with such a short preparation window and grew into the team that battled and finished so strongly these last couple weeks amazes me daily, and even now as I think about them. This group stuck together and grew together and trusted one another more than maybe any group I've coached previously. I'm so proud and honored to have been a part of their season. I'm excited to see the future for each and every one of them.
Boneyard!
