For half-lease $250 a month from Camilla Mortensen:
Flash is a 14-year-old Oldenburg/TB gelding. 16 hands and big b***d. He has a huge, lovely huge dressage trot and a canter like a Cadillac. He's chill but sensitive -- he pays a lot of attention to your body and balance and so is a very good teacher. If you ride him correctly, he will go beautifully. If you ride tense and stiff, he goes that way too, until you fix it and then he happily rewards you.
I'm looking for the right person to love on him and ride him -- he's super affectionate.
Leasee would ride 3 days a week and the lease would require that person would pay for and take two or more lessons from my trainer, USDF gold medal rider Leslie Taylor Chapman , per month to keep up on his training.
He has saddle, bridle, pads, brushes and all that, leasee would buy some basics as needed like fly spray and such and periodically chip in for bodywork as needed (usually twice a year). Leasee is welcome to bring their own tack if it fits.
The barn is in Pleasant Hill just outside Eugene with a small indoor and large outdoor arena. It’s a very easy drive from the University of Oregon.
Flash is experienced at shows and on trails, has done schooling shows and Devonwood as well as a couple three-day events before he moved to dressage only. He pulls a warmblood spook every once in a blue moon but is calm and only needs a small spur and goes in a loose-ring French snaffle. He’s kind of amazing and no, he’s not for sale ☺
I'm looking for a half lease because I spend more time riding and showing my event horse and my work takes up a lot of time. Very important it's the right match; he's a sweetheart. Dressage only and at my barn only. He's shown through first level and schooled second level. He can do more, but I've put my show money into eventing. His talents are wasted on me! His past and current leasees would love to tell you how awesome he is. Photos by Irina Kuzmina.
