The all-concrete 1/8 mile track has a two lane, 50' ft. wide racing surface where local and visiting speed demons can put the pedal to the metal. The 62 acre facility can accommodate 600 race cars and over 10,000 spectators, (in addition to parking for 3,500 spectator vehicles). The Outer Banks Speedway is located at 426 Benson Road in Creswell and tickets can be purchased in advance by calling (252) 370-8892 or can be obtained at the track's entrance on race day. Gates typically open 2 hours before the race starts and races, depending on the number of participants can go on well into the night, providing hours of entertainment for die-hard gearheads. Many events are also "open" races, meaning that amateur bike and car racers can participate, typically for a small sign-up fee, allowing newcomers to start their racing careers with a splash on the Inner Banks' most prominent race track.
