I want to give a shout out to these to amazing woman! They competed in the American Open Series 3 in Daytona this weekend. This was a National meet, one that you had to qualify for and had 1200 lifters. The most ever in a USAW sanctioned meet. A HUGE event that took a lot of courage and hard work to get to and compete in.

Dara came in 4th place in 40-44 age 71k women, just missing the medals. So close! But she went 6 for 6 hitting all her lifts. She set two personal PRs in both the sn**ch and clean and jerk. She has only been training/compete in Olympic lifting for 10 months. Such an amazing accomplishment and proving that age is just a number. Its never to late to find something you love!

Alexis competed against 69 other women in the 76k open division and came in 20th overall. She just missed a huge sn**ch PR and more importantly she proved that she can compete with the best of them in her first big time meet. Her potential at the age of 22 is super high. With another year of training she could be one of the best in the country.

I can’t express how humbling it is to have two people believe in me as a coach, stick with the programming, and see them succeed! I love coaching and they make it an absolute joy. To help them through the nerves, motivate them to do what I KNOW they are capable of and watch the smiles on their face as they walk of the stage after a make and even a close miss is amazing!!

PS...this is what you get for taking a selfie on my phone.

Sorry for the late post, but we have been super busy getting the new gym open! Time to share the Club results from the Black Box Open. Thank you to Black box for hosting such an awesome meet!

Starting out Staci Swotek and Bri Lind lifted in session 1 in the 64K weight class.

Bri got 3rd in the 64k division with her best lifts of 60K in the Sn**ch and 80K in the Clean and jerk for a total of 140K! Coming into the day Bri had been crushing her lifts in training and a week prior lifted in Atlanta! She is very close to setting PRs in her meets! Coming soon!

Lifts on the day – 60, 62X, 65X / 77, 80X, 80 (3/6 on the day)

Staci got second overall in the 64k but walked away with top Female Masters Division lifter at the meet. She lifted 67k in the sn**ch and 76k in the Clean and Jerk with a total of 143k for the day. She looked as steady as always even though I know how nervous she is inside. She had to battle a Rolling bar and a questionable no lift on the CJ. She will be shooting for the Masters records in the American Open Series 3 in September!

Lifts on the day – 65, 67X, 67 / 73X, 74, 76 (4/6 on the day)

In the second session Angel Robinson, Dara Smith and Alexis Alexander lifter.

Angel lifted in the 71k division and took 2nd out of 5 overall here. She had a sn**ch of 46K and a Clean and Jerk of 67K giving her a total of 113k. The best thing here is that she MADE A TOTAL! So Proud of her bouncing back after a rough meet a few months ago. She could have given up and walked away but she chose to face her fears of lifting on stage again! Resiliency!

Lifts on the day – 46, 50X, 51X / 67X, 67, 70X (3/6 on the day)

Dara lifted in the 71k division. Dara took 3rd overall in the Female Masters Division, bringing home some hardware! She hit a sn**ch of 46K and a clean and jerk of 61k giving her a total of 107!! Dara gets the most improved award as every day her lifts are getting cleaner and smoother. Noone works harder than Dara! Proud of her hard work!!

Lifts on the day – 43, 46, 49X / 56, 59, 62X (3/6 on the day)

Alexis lifted in the 76K division and had perhaps the most impressive lifts of the meet! She hit a sn**ch of 64k and a clean and jerk of 96k (212lbs!!!!!). She sat in 4th out of ALL the women lifters with her Sinclair total, just out of getting a medal. Alexis is so strong that and her potential is through the roof!!! She was second in her 76K division.

Lifts on the day 59, 61, 64 / 87, 92, 95 (6/6 on the day!)
