Each week we open up our home for our little FIRST Lego League kiddos. Not for a business as no student is charged to participate but a safe place where these kids to come in and find others with similar interest, build confidence in themselves, for some they learn to find their voice and who they are as a person, to build a connection with others that can go a life time. That's why we do it. In just a short time these kids are already coming out of their shell a little at a time working together for one common goal while building a friendship that may not have been their before.
Our littles are working hard on coming up with ideas for their innovation project and programming the robot. They are learning a lot that goes into being a team with no 'I' involved and how to work with all their different personalities. One way us coaches help with that is by breaking them up and rotating out who works with who on the challenge field each week. Yesterday they started programming for the first time on the challenge mat for this season. Slowly but surely we will get where we need to be with all them putting their hands on the robot, building attachments of their own versus a tutorial of one, and programming their robot to complete the missions.
