Announcing our 2026 Inductees! If you are a previous HOF member, we would love for you to join us on 9/11 in the media center for the induction ceremony and then also to come over to the football game for announcements during halftime! Congratulations!

We are now accepting nominations for our Athletic Hall of Fame. You can submit applications to Tim Gillis @ [email protected]
To be considered for the Hall of Fame the person has to have been out of high school for at least 10 years and has to have verifiable statistics that qualify them for induction. Any athlete that played at the top level professionally automatically qualifies for the Hall of Fame.
The more information you can send with your nomination the better!
Applications will be accepted until May 1, 2026! We look forward to hearing from you!

Send us your nominations! Now, until 4/4/2025 we will be accepting nominations for our athletic HOF. You can email nominations to [email protected]. To be considered, applicants/nominees must have graduated at least 10 years ago, and verifiable stats must be submitted with the nominee. The more supporting documentation, the better. If any nominee played professional sports or won a state championship, they are automatically eligible for induction.

Larry Stephens HOF 2024!

1959-1960 CHS Freshman - JV Quarterback.
1960-1961 CHS Soph - Lettered in Football, Basketball and Track. Larry started the season as 2nd string QB and even the first string QB was injured, Larry came into the game, was given a play he had never run, threw a perfect pass and won the game. He was first string starter from that pass on.
1961-1962 CHS Junior - Lettered in Football (Halfback) under Coach Jack Powell. Lettered in Basketball (Guard) and in track. In track Larry was called the "fastest man in the county!"
1962-1963 CHS Senior - Lettered in Football (Halfback), Basketball (Guard) and Track.
Graduated CHS May 1963 and attended Auburn U completing his studies at Troy U with a degree in Supervision and Administration.
1970 - Began teaching and coaching in Okaloosa County Middle Schools.
1970-1975 Coach - Football, Softball, Baseball and Basketball.
1972-2005 Taught and worked 33 years in CHS Press Box along side Bob Lynn, as Scoreboard Operator and Spotter.
In 2005, Larry was presented a plaque from CHS, Richbourg MS and Davidson MS, for his diligence and faithfulness to be in the CHS Press Box for each and every game played Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights in CHS Stadium each week.
Larry retired from the Okaloosa County School System in May 2005. He is married with two daughters who came through Crestview schools, cheered at CHS and played sports. He has three Grandsons, two played Football, Basketball and Baseball at CHS and one granddaughter who cheered all four years at CHS. Recently the proud Great Grandfather of a great grandson.

• 1988 Graduated from Troy University with Bachelor’s in Finance
• 1993 Began career with Okaloosa County Schools at Baker School o Coached Basketball and Softball
• 1995 – 1996 Richbourg Middle School o Head Boys Basketball Coach, Head Track Coach
o Won two County Championships in each year to include an undefeated season
• 1997 Davidson Middle School o First Head Boys Basketball Coach and Cross-Country Coach
o Boys Basketball County Runner Up
• 1998 - 2013 Crestview High School
o Boys Junior Varsity Basketball Coach
o Head Boys and Girls Cross Country Coach
o Coached Multiple State Qualifiers to include Regional Champion Becky Wells
o Varsity Girls Basketball Coach
o Won first Girl’s district Championship in more than 10 years
o Head coach 9th Grade Football
o Undefeated Season in 2009
o Assistant Varsity Football Coach o Teacher of the Year in 2011

o Principal Inaugural member of the Hall of Fame committee and has continued to serve on the Board helping to create and continue the legacy of Crestview High School Athletics.
Retired after 31 years in Okaloosa County with 21 years as a classroom teacher / coach as well as 10 years as an administrator.
Wife of 37 years Stephanie (Class of ’84) Children – Matthew (Class of ’08) and Jacey (Class of '11) Proud to be a Bulldog with deep roots in this community.

• 2002 State Runner Up football season / Earned all-state honors
• 2003 All Area Selection for Track and Field
• 2003 Placed 4th at State for the 300-meter hurdles
• Varsity letters in Track and Field, Football, and Baseball
• Graduating Class of 2003
• 2003-2007 Attended Mississippi College
• Mississippi College – 4-year starter in football
• Led Mississippi College in sacks and tackles for loss in sophomore campaign
• 2006 All Conference Team at Mississippi College
• 2006 Football Team Captain
• 2004 & 2007 Seasons Track and Field at Mississippi College
• Ran 100 meter / 200 meter dash / Member of Mississippi College’s 4x1 team
• 2007 – Placed 7th overall at the SWAC invitationals for the 200 meter dash
• 2007 Earned a Bachelors of Science in Sports Administration
• Currently the Assistant Program Director for Okaloosa Youth Academy
• Wife – Eugena Peoples
• Son – Myles Peoples
• Daughter – Naomi Peoples
• Currently volunteering as a coach at Hub City Football
