4 wrestlers from the youth wrestling team took to the mat this weekend at the OAC Wrestling Championship at the Covelli Center in Youngstown. This is the toughest youth State Tournament in Ohio. 32 of the top kids in each weight class from all over the state competed. Hayes Bolinger had 2 great matches but ultimately ended his season early. Tate Riggenbach also came out firing and had some solid time on the mat but feel short of his goal. Trey Riggenbach. Took a tough 1st round loss came back and pinned his 2nd kid but in the end couldn’t make it to the podium. Easton Berry ended up taking 5th place at the #120 spot. Easton had a great 1st day with 2 pins and a tech fall. Came back the 2nd day and ended up losing to both the 1st and 3rd place finished before being able to capture the 5th place spot. Can’t be more proud of these kids and the youth wrestling program and coaches for the season that this program has had. Thanks to everyone who has volunteered with concessions, tables, mats. Thanks to all the middle and high school wrestlers for all your help this season. That’s a wrap.

Congratulations to all 11 wrestlers who qualified for the state tournament today. There was some tough lessons learned some hard fought matches and some calls not in our favor but everyone did just as we asked and gave 100% the whole time. They should all be very proud of themselves. Team placed 12th out of 63 teams represented there
A huge congratulations to our 2 State runner-ups. At 90 pounds Noah Mowrer and at 120 pound Easton Berry. Both undefeated on the season going into there finals matches. Both ran into really tough competition and gave everything they had and left it all out on the mat.
Congratulations to all the families and to the coaches for a most memorable OYWA season.
Now onto OAC and OHWAY for a lot of these kids.

Good luck to the 11 Norwayne Youth Varsity members heading to Gleanoak tomorrow morning to try and take there spot on the podium at The OYWA State Wrestling Championships. There is no doubt in my mind that every one of these kids has in them what it takes to reach there goals. There hard work, determination, strength and conditioning and confidence, along with one of the best youth coaching staffs there is in my opinion will step on the mat tomorrow and give it everything they have. We are so lucky to be apart of there journey.
Good luck to the parents and families of these wrestlers. You guys have not only became friends but a huge part of this program and a big reason it is what it is today. Without all the practices you got them to, the volunteering, the clubs, the hotel nights and out of state tournaments, the Jeff Jordan camps and putting up with us 6 guys who love this sports as much as we love you guys and your kids. Congratulations everyone.

What a day for the Norwayne Varsity team at the Beaver local Districts. I am proud to say we will be sending 11 kids to the OYWA state wrestling tournament next Sunday at Glenoak. This small town program placed 2nd out of 25 teams, scoring 246.5 points. The team ended the day with 22 pins, 7 tech falls, 2 MD and 10 decisions. The team placed 11 of 15 kids with 4 champions, 1 runner up, 1-3rd, 3-4th and 2-5th place finishers. As always thanks to the coaches for everything you guys do. Thanks to parents for believing in all of us. This is a special group right here.

Today your Norwayne Varsity team took to Wooster for the OYWA mid Ohio sectionals. 16 kids 1 goal to all make to the next level. 15 of 16 will be making there way to district next weekend at Beaver Local. Today this team put on one heck of a show for everyone. Putting 9 kids in the finals crowning 7 champions, 2 runner ups, 4 3rd, 2 4th place finishers. Scoring a crazy 289 points claiming 3rd place. Not to shabby for a team with 6 holes in the line up. This team has done amazing things this season. Undefeated in the regular season. Breaking West Holmes 50 win Dual stretch with a but whooping. Winning 17/22 matches. Shout out to the coaches for their undying love for this sport, this program and these kids and their families. Thank you parents for dealing with us coaches. Your kids hate us sometimes, you may hate us sometimes but I’ll guarantee 1 thing. Your kids will remember us for the rest of their lives. And to me that’s worth it. Congratulations everyone

The Norwayne youth Varsity Boys took to Ohio State last night to watch the Buckeyes take on NC State. To say these boys had a great time is an understatement. Thanks to Norwayne alumni Kolin Moore for taking the time to come talk with the kids durning the meet and taking them back to wrestling room after the meet. Thanks to Bolinger Crop Insurance for making this event possible. Thanks to the parents for coming and make sure your kids got there and home safe. Always a great time when these kids get together.

Calm before the storm. If you’re not doing anything tomorrow come out and support the Norwayne Youth wrestling team as they host Crestview, Hillsdale and Loudonville. Doors open at 7:30am and wrestling starts at 9ish.

The Norwayne youth varsity took to Tuslaw tonight to open there season and man it did not disappoint. Lots of great matches tonight with a tough Tuslaw team. The Norwayne kids was able to nudge out the victory by just a handful of points Thanks for the invite and hope we get to do it again. Next up the team starts off there OYWA season this Sunday at Norwayne against Crestview, Hillsdale and Loudonville. If you’re not doing anything stop on out and support these kids. Wrestling starts at 9am

Some of our Bobcats took to Smithville today to kick there season off at the Smithville open. 10 kids wrestle today. 5 Allstars and 5 varsity kids. Out of 10 kids we placed 9 first - third. It was a learning experience for some Allstars as it was some of there very 1st wrestling matches. They learned a lot today. Great job today kids and coaches.
