Oh boy… My Boy Blue…

Customer bike check!

This one is maybe the perfect build for a My Boy Blue Offering. It’s a mix of ‘blue’ collar value and top-of-the-line performance. The new owner started with Evil’s Offering frame and equipped it Fox’s flagship suspension, Factory DPX2 and a 2021 Factory 36 Grip 2 fork. To this, she paired Shimano’s SLX group with an XT wheel upgrade. Purple Haze Palmela Handerson grips and OneUp pedals tie it all together.
The perfect mix of high-performance and value in our opinion! Enjoy, Whitney!

EVIL BIKE CHECK #4 Following, size small in Protein Powder.

Yin and Yang. No expense spared, versus balling on a budget. This particular Following is our rendition balance.

We’ve paired Shimano’s flagship XTR group with Marzocchi’s budget Z2. High performance, reasonably costed PRO Components.

The result highlights all parts. You’ll be surprised as to how good Shimano’s XTR group really is… yes, you can tell a difference from the other groups. Plus there’s a lot less weight.

On the other end, Marzocchi’s Z2 can keep up with the industry’s best component group. While you’ll notice the budget finish, i.e. plastic caps, the big picture is compelling both visually and in performance. Once out on the trails, you’ll see that this fork can keep up—especially in this travel category. Our Z2 has 130mm travel that pairs perfectly to the Following’s 120mm out back.

This Following is our bike to expand your perception on both ends of the cost v. performance spectrum.

EVIL BIKE CHECK #3 Offering, size medium in Black Out Drunk.

Oh, what this bike can Offer. Basically everything. It eats up the miles, but then when you point it downhill and it brings plenty of smiles. Ed’s note: pairs beautifully with Hideaway Park’s More Smiles Per Mile Dry Hopped Cream Ale.

Offering is smack in the middle of the Evil 29in range and it’s definitely the bike for the ‘one bike quivers’ those looking to progress their skills and Mtb ability, or those who are just plain indecisive.

We built this medium demo with Shimano’s work horse SLX group. This 12-speed group goes feature for feature with the more expensive XT and XTR groups, but with just a little bit more weight.

Because we go up, to go down… we slapped on some Shimano Ice-Tech Freeza 203mm rotors (both front and rear) and a PRO Koryak 170mm dropper (if your seat height allows).

We geeked out on CushCore pairings for this rig: The Pro in the rear with a Schwalbe Hans Dampf and the XC giving just enough extra security to the Magic Mary in the front.

Marzocchi’s Bomber is up front with 160mm of travel and a Float EVOL air spring. This fork is an easily adjusted sleeper. Much like the Offering it can do it all, as the recirculating GRIP damper offers exceptional downhill performance, but with a lockout…? Talk about indecisive awesomeness.
