WORKDAY UPDATE: woke up to a wet Saturday. The work day originally set for 8AM today is rescheduled for Sunday the 30th at 8AM. Same location!

WORKDAY UPDATE: we’re watching a chance of rain on Saturday AM. If we wake up to a wet Saturday, work day will move to Sunday the 30th at 8AM in the same location. We should have a final announcement posted by 7:30AM Saturday

WORKDAY ANNOUNCEMENT:

We’ll be doing some trail work on Saturday, August 29th at 8AM. We will be installing a switchback on the Stumpy’s Revenge trail (see attached trail map). We estimate 3-4 hours of work with 7-8 people. Many hands make light work.

Park at the nature center and we will have tools provided.

If this is your first time helping, drop a comment or message this account in advance and we will make sure to have volunteer waivers ready!

Late summer update: it’s been several months of incredible progress! Volunteers (huge tip of the cap to Paul Lovell in particular) have cleared, banked, and removed stumps from several miles of new trail. While there are still some small obstacles, everything that is cleared can be walked or biked!

We are now on the Trailforks as well (screen shot below). This is an app/website dedicated to displaying off road recreational trails of all kinds! We will eventually have trail maps and signage, but for now this is the best way to navigate the trails.

Lastly, we will be having another workday the weekend of August 29-30th. Details to be announced later.

Get out and enjoy the trails!

The past week volunteers have been busy clearing, trimming, and completing the highlighted section. I got out for a ride this morning, and the conditions were awesome! Get out and enjoy our first completed trail on foot or bicycle! The more use it gets, the more well established the path becomes.

Work day this Sunday, February 15th, from 1-4PM. Meet at the entrance to the campground at Vernon Springs Park! Anyone interested is welcome to join. We will be clearing new paths and removing invasive buckthorn

Incredible work day! Thanks to all who came out and helped. We now have a half mile of usable trail. Come on down and check it out, whether walking, running, or biking! The trail starts just east of the gate on the south side of the campground road and heads east towards the north bound bend of the Prairie Springs Trail.

Work day this Saturday (11/22) from 9AM to Noon. Meet at the gate at the bottom of the road that leads up to the campground at Vernon Springs park. All are welcome! Even if you can’t stay the whole time, come out and check it out!
