Well, this is a fun post!

As most of you know, Gage Burns is a State Champion!

Gage caught the leaders by hole 8 and then immediately shot the first hole of the state tournament on hole 9.
But, he managed to keep his composure and caught the leaders again after a few holes on the back. He was in a 4-way tie that turned into a 3-way tie and then it turned into a 2-way tie. His 2-way tie turned into a 2-way tie with a different golfer. He finally took his first solo lead of the tournament after hole 17. He finished his victory off with a par!!

As we were on our way back, we got a call about a “welcome back”! It was really cool to see the community support Gage and Creighton Community School. It was close to 11 when we got back and there had to be 30-40 people at the school, and there were others downtown honking their horn or waving as we came through town! I know Gage truly appreciated it!

It’s even better to see good things happen to great kids, and Gage is definitely one of those kids! He has a bright future ahead and can’t wait to see what he does in the future!

Thank you to the Ryon Nilson, Greg Brockhaus and whoever else set up the welcome home party. And, a big thank you to everyone showing up to congratulate Gage!

Good first day by Gage. He put himself in contention for tomorrow! He is currently 3 back.

He tees off at 10:50 tomorrow.

The boys competed at the Randolph Invite today (May 8th). We had our lowest team score (340) of the season and placed 3r...

The boys competed at the Randolph Invite today (May 8th).

We had our lowest team score (340) of the season and placed 3rd only 1 stroke behind Crofton/Wynot for 2nd place!

Gage Burns and Calvin Wilmes both shot a 77 only 2 strokes off 1st place! Gage Burns won the scorecard playoff placing 3rd and Calvin Wilmes placed 4th.

Isaac Hoffman had a PB of 88 which was good enough for 16th and his first medal! Well done Isaac!

Jorgan Condon and Victor Fanta rounded out the 5 with scores of 99 and 98, respectively. Victor improved his score by 27 strokes from the last meet which is quite a turnaround after a rough day!

The boys are rounding into form right before we head to Burwell for Districts next Monday the 15th!

A couple of invites to post about:

The boys went to Battle Creek last Thursday and competed well.
Gage Burns placed 3rd with a 77 (74 is even par). He was only two strokes off of 1st place.

Calvin Wilmes shot an 89 and placed 12th.

Isaac Fanta shot a 96 and Jorgan Condon shot a 101 for a team score of 363 which was good enough for 4th place once again only beaten by C schools.

Here's a more proper post for today....

After a rough start to the morning, the Creighton Golf team put together a strong performance!

The team shot a 377 which was good enough for Conference Runner-up!
Since joining the Lewis and Clark Conference (2013-2014) Creighton has now finished in the top 3 eight times (2020= COVID, 2022= outside top 3) with 3 conference championships!

Gage Burns with yet ANOTHER tournament win! Gage now has a championship and 2 runner ups at the Conference tournament in his career.
Gage shot an even par 72 which is the lowest score by a Creighton golfer at Lewis and Clark (previously Brady and Braxton Brockhaus each with a 73)!
Gage becomes the 3rd Creighton golfer, along with Brady and Braxton, to win Lewis and Clark!
Gage's 72 is also the 4th best score ever shot at Lewis and Clark by any player from any school.

Calvin Wilmes finished 9th with an 89. He becomes the 13th Creighton golfer to medal at Lewis and Clark!
