We took Cooper to the Thanksgiving Rumble this weekend at Paradise for some racing… and I honestly don’t know where to begin and will try to keep it brief. Friday, we struggled to get his kart fast, but Coop stayed positive and went out on the track every time giving it all he had. They split the red plate class into A main and B main races. First race Coop qualified 9th, not making the main race- he finished 2nd in the B main race. For the 2nd race that day, Coop qualified 8th making it into the A main race- started in the rear and finished 6th. He drove his butt off with the kart he had.
Day 2, Saturday- daddy made lots of adjustments to tires after guidance from several friends… and with that, Coop’s kart came alive!!! My buddy drove his butt off Saturday!! Cooper qualified 3rd for the first race but had to start in rear because of “apparently” bad gas. Coop took that frustration and got on the wheel and worked his way back to the front with a 3rd place finish. Race 2- Coop was rocking and rolling, landing 2nd spot for qualifying. And man, this race did not disappoint.. Coop gave it all he had, went in for the lead and led several laps and WON!!! Yes, Cooper won! I can’t even put into words how freaking excited we are! Cooper is still on cloud 9!!! We honestly could not have done this without our friends at the track helping us. This is definelty at the top for our most exciting wins for Coop! For the entire weekend, Coop finished 4th in points!! We will take that all day long after being on the struggle bus all day Friday, but when we were all frustrated, Cooper never gave up and got on the wheel and drove with all he had!! HUGE shout out to all the kids racing Red Plate- these kids did an amazing job racing, kept it interesting and clean for all the races… I could not be more proud of each kid than I am now. When it is all said and done, all we want is for these kids to have fun racing and to stay safe. We are so fortunate to race with the group of people we do, always being there for each during the highs and the lows. Thank you to our friends for everything this weekend.
So to wrap up this not so short post (hahaha), as much as I’m (mom) trying to convince Coop that I was his good luck charm this weekend, he likes to remind me that it is all because of his dad and everything he did for him this weekend! But like dad says, he can do all he can for the kart, but it’s up to Coop to drive it… and getting on the wheel is exactly what he did!! We are so beyond proud of Coop this weekend through the good and not so good times.
Congrats to all the kids this weekend, job well done.
Thank you to our nephew Brooks for his support this weekend and being such a huge help to us. Thank you P & P Speed Shop Jonathan-Megan Cash for the horse power, Premier Chasis Hermie Sadler Karting for a great go-kart and all our sponsors for helping make this possible for Cooper!
