Snow Country Explorers

Snow Country Explorers The Snow Country Explorers snowmobile club grooms approximately 95 miles of trails near the headwaters of the Rio Grande river. COME RIDE THE DIVIDE w/ us!

The Snow Country Explorers Snowmobile Club is based in Creede (Mineral County), Colorado. Creede is located on Colorado Highway 149, 23 miles north of South Fork (on US Highway 160) and 98 miles south of Gunnison (on Highway 50) in the southern San Juan Mountains. The area is surrounded on three sides by the Continental Divide. The club grooms approximately 85 miles of trails in the Divide Distric

t of the Rio Grande National Forest. The four major trailheads are all around Creede and provide access to trails for all experience levels. This trail system connects with trails groomed by Lake City to the north and South Fork to the south
The elevations of the trails range from 8,500 to 12,760 feet. Many of the trails give riders a chance to feel like they are on “top of the world”. The trails offer groomed riding, plenty of meadows for playing and steep mountain areas for climbing. The area has an average yearly snowfall of 250-300 inches so there is always snow to ride somewhere on the system.

Dear Snow Country Explorers,

We are happy to invite you to our first meeting of the season, Thursday, October 23rd at 6 pm at Opie's, 981 La Garita St. A few members of the group are planning to provide dinner (burgers, fixins and beans, plus Haluski and sauerkraut balls). Donations will be accepted to cover the cost of the meal. Tea and water will be available but BYOB if you so desire.

Besides sharing a meal and a fun trivia game, the primary focus of the meeting is a membership drive and education on the importance of a strong club. Let us know if there is anything you would like to have included on the agenda. We want to get the word out so please invite anyone you think might be interested.

In order to prepare enough food, please RSVP by Tuesday, October 21st by replying to this message.

Thank you,
Shane Castleberry
Club President

It's not too late to RSVP for the RIB dinner and club meeting on Tuesday, March 25, at 6 p.m. at Tommyknocker Tavern in Creede. I've reserved the upstairs and Brian will be making ribs, coleslaw, and beans and serving it buffet style. Until I know for sure how many people will attend, I'm figuring it will cost between $15 and $20 a person for the food plus tips and drinks will be separate.

Please let me know no later than March 16 (Sunday) if you plan to attend by emailing me at [email protected].

This will be our end-of-season meeting so I hope you can attend. We will plan a highway cleanup in May followed by lunch at Freemon's but probably no meeting then. There are still a few people riding. If you want to ride, let me know and I'll let other club members know. Maybe you can hook up with other people.
