On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, the last enslaved Americans in Texas were informed of their freedom.
Today, we recognize Juneteenth as a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of a more just future.
We honor the history, reflect on its lessons, and celebrate the strength of the communities that continue to move our country forward.
