Comment “MRM” and I’ll send you the link to the Mental Rehearsal Method – the 11 visualizations I recorded are responsible for getting me through 15 weeks of pregnancy nausea and still somehow keeping my unmedicated ADHD in check, creating the course, and showing up for my kids and my clients ❤️😮‍💨

and here’s the kind of funny part once you actually get this - when you stop expecting yourself to get to EVERYTHING (aka fantasy self thinking), your day actually feels bigger.
When my neighbor offered, (love u Rachel Anita !) that pocket of time didn’t feel like “okay now I have to perform, now I have to use this WELL.” it just felt like a bonus. A gift.

Versus if I’d walked in expecting I’d have time for this today (and 75 other things), and then something got in the way, I would have felt like s**t. I would have felt like i dropped the ball. Completely different feeling & outcome!

we made our own pizzas after camp, too!! 🍕

Visualization is how I’ve not just learned to reframe my time, but more importantly my inner dialogue. I get to keep my spicy brain without the spicy inner critic 🤪

The link to the spreadsheet is in the first comment, ya nerd 🤓.

Still don't know what to make of all this but found it super interesting. yes there were some careers that showed up a lot, like creative careers people seem to be really happy in. BUT there are exceptions to everything! There were also tons of comments from people who were so content in "boring" jobs.

I think with this all comes down to is you really have to KNOW yourself. What are YOUR interests? What do YOU like to hyperfocus on?

and then from there comes the real work, which is actually believing that you are good enough to do your dream job. And that my friend, matters a whole lot more than landing the "right" career.

Thoughts?! Agree?? Disagree?

I asked for your best and worst jobs and 200+ of you answered. But results were mixed! No one job dominated but lots of cool patterns kept showing up.

Insight No. 1 - The jobs people loved almost always had a clear finish line built into the work (ideally daily). A patient gets handed off. A haircut done. A flight landed. You get the little “that’s complete” dopamine moment, then you move on.

The jobs people hated the most had to-do lists that never actually end.

Turns out urgency isn’t the magic ingredient for ADHD brains, it's urgency that gets RESOLVED.

Is this true for you?? Is there any way to create more of this in your career?

I used to think if I just gave my clients the right time management strategies, they’d be set.

Then I kept watching smart, capable women with ADHD have the exact tool they needed sitting right in front of them, and not use it. And the only reason is because some part of them didn’t believe it would work for them specifically. Like somehow they were uniquely faulty.

That’s not an executive function problem. That’s a self-talk problem, and it’s the one nobody’s actually treating in the ADHD space. I

Here’s the science behind what’s actually happening: your brain doesn’t wait to see how a moment goes before deciding how to respond to it. It predicts the outcome first, and your body reacts to the prediction. If your default prediction is “I always do this” or “there’s something wrong with me,” you’re bracing for failure before you’ve even started the task.

ADHD brains are wired to run simulations constantly. Most of us just point that wiring at every worst-case scenario instead of anywhere useful.

The Mental Rehearsal Method redirects it. 11 guided visualizations, 10 minutes or less, built for the exact moments you talk yourself out of before you’ve begun, starting the task, coming back after you fell off, believing this time might actually go differently.

You’ve had years of practice rehearsing the voice that stops you. This is what it looks like to rehearse the one that doesn’t.

Resting is a skill. Most ADHD high achievers never learned it.

Comment “MRM” and I’ll send you the link to The Mental Rehearsal Method.

Here’s a quickie on what it actually is:

You know how to push. You know how to perform under pressure, hit the deadline, run on fumes and still deliver. Nobody taught you the other half, how to stop before your body makes that decision for you.

That’s not a discipline problem. Resting is a skill your nervous system has to actually practice, the same way it practiced pushing.

This is the whole idea behind the Mental Rehearsal Method. Your brain isn’t reacting to your life in real time, it’s predicting what’s about to happen and your body responds to that prediction before anything’s even happened.

ADHD brains are already wired to visualize more than most, we just usually aim it at worst case scenarios instead of anywhere useful.

So we redirect it.

11 guided visualizations
10 minutes or less
For the exact moments you usually override yourself, ending the day before you meant to, getting out of bed, starting the task, the comeback after it got away from you.

You practice rehearsing the stop the same way you rehearsed the push.

Hear me out on this one…

It’s not the opinion itself that you care about. It’s what happens after:

- the spiral
- the overthinking
- the meaning you make about yourself

That’s what you’re trying to avoid.

Quick win:

Instead of trying to avoid judgment, start building evidence that you can handle it.

- post the thing
- say the thing
- let it land

And then have your own back. You don't build self-trust making sure everything you do or say lands PERFECTLY. (that's how you build hypervigilance.) You build self-trust by having your own back even when you don't.

Follow along for more advice for women who are done letting the opinions of others determine what they do.
