When a cowboy hits the dirt, our bullfighters don’t have time to think twice. They step between the rider and a whole lot of horns, muscle, and attitude—and we’re thankful to have the Covington Lions Club sponsoring the bullfighters who help keep our cowboys safe!

🐄💰 HEY, JUNIORS & SENIORS, WANT TO CHASE DOWN $500?! 💰🐄

There are still spots open for the Newton County Rodeo Calf Scramble, and we’re looking for students ready to get a little dirty for a chance at a $500 scholarship!

A HUGE thank you to Chick-fil-A Covington and Chick-fil-A Covington Town Center for sponsoring our Saturday Night Calf Scramble! ❤️🐔 Their support is helping us put scholarship money directly into the hands of local students while giving them an experience they probably won’t forget anytime soon.

Here’s the deal:

🐄 20 contestants compete each night
💰 The first 10 to catch a calf, get it haltered, and make it to the center circle earn a $500 scholarship!
🎓 Open to high school juniors and seniors, age 16+ — and we’re also accepting college freshmen to help fill our remaining spots!
📅 Calf Scramble happens Friday AND Saturday night

We are proud to recognize The Cardinal Foundation as one of just four Platinum Sponsors of the 4th Annual Newton County Rodeo!

Putting on an event of this size takes far more than cowboys, livestock, and an arena. It takes organizations that believe in what we're building and are willing to invest in making it happen.

The support of The Cardinal Foundation helps us create the kind of rodeo experience our community has come to expect—while allowing the impact of this event to reach far beyond two nights in September.

The Newton County Rodeo helps us support local 4-H and FFA programs, provide up to 20 scholarships for high school seniors, and continue creating opportunities for young people to experience agriculture first hand throughout the year. From livestock shows and competitions to horseback riding, Horse Camp, and agricultural education, our goal is to give the next generation a place to learn, compete, grow, and belong.
