In the dojang, the board doesn't jump in front of your foot. The target doesn't adjust its height to make things easier for you. The target stays exactly where it is, waiting for you to demonstrate the precision, speed, and commitment required to hit it.
Life works the same way.
When we set a goal—whether it’s earning a black belt, improving a grade, or building a business—the goal is a fixed point. It doesn't change, and it certainly won't come to you. You cannot expect the target to lower itself to match your current level of effort.
To bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be, you must be the one who changes:
You change your habits: You adjust your daily routine to prioritize training and recovery.
You change your mindset: You stop asking "why is this hard?" and start asking "how can I get better at this?"
You change your intensity: You raise your level of focus until your skill matches the difficulty of the target.
When you miss, you don’t blame the target. You don’t ask for the target to be moved. You analyze your stance, adjust your technique, and move yourself until your strike is true.
Stop waiting for your goals to get easier. Start moving yourself until you are ready to reach them.
