From Covington… to the Finals.

Stephon Castle and the San Antonio Spurs defeated the defending NBA Champs, the OKC Thunder, on Saturday night to advance to the NBA Finals. The Newton alumnus finished the game with 16 points.

A first place finish from Derrick Miller highlighted Newton's strong efforts at the GATFXCCA Meet of Champions this past Saturday

The Newton Rams attended and placed at the Georgia Track & Field and Cross Country Association's Meet of Champions on Saturday. The event was held at McEachern High School, and the four Rams that attended earned top four placements.

Dr. Patrick Carter is departing as Alcovy's athletic director to become an assistant principal at Monroe Area High School.

STORY

Dr. Patrick Carter is departing his position as Alcovy High School’s athletic director. Carter told The Covington News on Tuesday that he is accepting a job as an assistant principal at Monroe Area High School. His resignation from Alcovy will be effective June 5.

Earlier this week, Alcovy's Janae' Randall set a new Class AAAAA record in the girls' shot put as she became a state champion

Randall's performance highlighted a strong state meet for the Tigers

Janae’ Randall had herself a day at the Class AAAAA meet this week as the junior took home a state title and 5A record. In the meets leading up to Wednesday, Randall took home numerous first place medals in the girls’ shot put. When it came time to put it all on the line, Randall delivered.
