THE NEXT 200 FEET
LEARN TO LIVE IN THE PRESENT...

Living in the present moment by focusing all of your time, energy, and attention on the process of here and now is essential to success. A great way to reinforce the present moment and the process is to think about focusing on the next 200 feet.

You can drive anywhere you want in the country in complete darkness because your headlights let you see the next 200 feet. By focusing on the next 200 feet, you keep your mind focused on the present and what you can do to give yourself the best chance for success.

Good or bad, it's not about what happend yesterday or what is going to happen tomorrow. The really good athletes are able to live in the present and stay completed focused on the specific task at hand. Regardless of what you did in your previous at bat, the focus needs to be on the next pitch, not the last one!!

Two huge tips for all of our athletes in this week's Monday Message, 2/13-2/18:

Brian Cain is one of the best mental coaches in the world and has some really good insight into an athletes mindset.

-The first is dealing with confidence and sharing how confidence is not a feeling but more of an action. To many times in athletics and in life we let our feelings dictate how we act instead of letting our actions determine how we feel.

3 Keys in Confidence:

1. Physiological - Understand your body language and carry yourself in a positive manner
2. Focus on what you can control
3. Positive Self-Talk

-The second is on the power of your attitude. We have this quote plastered all over our lockerroom for a reason. A player/team's attitude can determine everything that takes for that day, week, or even year. If you have a poor attitude, your ceiling of success and positive experiences will be extremely low. A huge step in being successful is to show up everyday with a positive attitude.
