I don't love my performance yesterday. The one part that was good was that when I made the choice to be aggressive I was connecting and I had a couple more 12's than at the first leg. So, as far as "playing the 3-D game", it was an improvement.
Unfortunately I had 4 completely unforced errors in the form of sloppy, unfinished shots that ended up WAY right for three 8's, and a 5 on my last arrow to drop me under 300. 😭
Shot ex*****on is supposed to be my strength against these seasoned 3-D guys, but I just didn't finish every arrow the way I should have. (Shot field league last night and addressed that s**t immediately)
To me, anything under 300 is in danger. I'm not comfortable with my score in the clubhouse.
As for the shoot/course itself....there was definitely opportunity for high scores as the shots themselves weren't technically challenging. The footing was great in most spots and there were no up/down hills or side hills to speak of. There were a few "sun into shade" shots on the second half, but even those weren't terrible. What WAS challenging was the 5-ish miles of hiking for 30 targets! Such a long course and long shoot. Too long. Like I may skip this club in the future long. No offense to the club and many great volunteers that made the event happen. (And the A+ rated burgers, fries and tenders at lunch)
I guess now I just wait and hope the 5 mile hike and lack of shade on the first part of the second half along with the first truly hot day of the spring in New England takes out my competition, because Lord knows I didn't do as much as I could have.
