A solid 5 weeks of two field rounds a week has me and my Bear Archery Alaskan Pro shooting better than I have all year. If you want to be a better 3-D shooter, shoot field. I can't wait to bring the form and equipment improvements to the third leg of the NorthEast Championship Series in 8 days!

In my happy place today shooting field archery. The Pootatuck Archers is Connecticut's most challenging course, with lots of elevation, side hills and rocky footing.....and I smoked it. Changed back to two eyes open after a failed three week experiment and poor performance at the second leg of the ASA. My shots are SOOO much cleaner with two eyes open......because not only is aiming overrated, but it's f**king scary! 🤣

I'm loving these photos provided by NorthEast Championship Series! I shoot great when the camera is around, because I'm worried more about having perfect form in the photo than where the arrow hits. As a result the two shots in the last two shoot photos were absolute pinwheels! I'm thinking of hiring a photographer to follow me around the course at the next shoot. 🤣🤣🤣

Found another Bear Archery shooter out in the wild today. He was in my group for the second leg of the NorthEast Championship Series shoot Saturday, and had great things to say about his new Redeem. Now if only we could find one more bear we can go after that b***h that took our porridge! 🐻🐻🐻😂😂😂

Luckily Saturday's lackluster performance only set me back 5 points, and I'm still up 10 points for SOY.

I don't love my performance yesterday. The one part that was good was that when I made the choice to be aggressive I was connecting and I had a couple more 12's than at the first leg. So, as far as "playing the 3-D game", it was an improvement.
Unfortunately I had 4 completely unforced errors in the form of sloppy, unfinished shots that ended up WAY right for three 8's, and a 5 on my last arrow to drop me under 300. 😭
Shot ex*****on is supposed to be my strength against these seasoned 3-D guys, but I just didn't finish every arrow the way I should have. (Shot field league last night and addressed that s**t immediately)
To me, anything under 300 is in danger. I'm not comfortable with my score in the clubhouse.
As for the shoot/course itself....there was definitely opportunity for high scores as the shots themselves weren't technically challenging. The footing was great in most spots and there were no up/down hills or side hills to speak of. There were a few "sun into shade" shots on the second half, but even those weren't terrible. What WAS challenging was the 5-ish miles of hiking for 30 targets! Such a long course and long shoot. Too long. Like I may skip this club in the future long. No offense to the club and many great volunteers that made the event happen. (And the A+ rated burgers, fries and tenders at lunch)
I guess now I just wait and hope the 5 mile hike and lack of shade on the first part of the second half along with the first truly hot day of the spring in New England takes out my competition, because Lord knows I didn't do as much as I could have.

Super happy with tonight's 3-D practice. Kept it super simple, play for center 10's on every target. Most things that make us miss outside (poor footing, angles, side hills) result in low misses. Most of my 8's to date have been low. So tonight I aimed center 10 on everything. Caught a good amount of 12's and had far fewer 8's. I think this may be my strategy for the second leg of the NorthEast Championship Series

Shooting field rounds the past couple weeks, I've discovered my marks are about a yard short. Reset the indicator pin and marks are at 100%. 30 targets of 3-D practice tomorrow night, a few days of rain, then the NorthEast Championship Series on Saturday.
