Our annual kids Halloween Costume party will be held this year on Wednesday, October 29th at 5:30-6:30pm 1010 Togue Avenue, Unit 11, Coventry, RI. All students, siblings, friends are invited!

It's fall and that means it's back to school time!

Kid's classes start again on Wednesday, September 10 at 5:30pm. Classes will then continue with their normal Monday and Wednesday cycle.

Our Women only self-defense seminar was very well received. In light of this, we will be adding Women Only self-defense Classes to our weekly schedule. This new class will be on Tuesdays and start on September 23 at 6:30pm. These classes are designed to empower women with practical self-defense skills in a supportive environment. Instructors will demonstrate each technique step-by-step, allowing participants to practice and gain confidence in their abilities. No prior experience is necessary, and all fitness levels are welcome.

Our full class schedule is:

Kids Class: Monday and Wednesday 5:30pm-6:25pm

Teens and Adult Classes:
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 6;30pm-7:30pm
Sunday: 9am-11am

Women Only Classes: Tuesdays 6:30pm-7:30pm

Woman's Self Defense Seminar To Be Held.

This Self Defense Seminar is based on Yang Ki Yin Jiu Jitsu defensive techniques that have been street tested and are ideal for the average man or women.

• Learn to break free from an attacker who grabs you without warning.
• Learn to avoid being taken to the ground by a determined attacker.
• Learn to defend yourself if you are on the ground.
• Learn to defend against punches, bear hugs, chokes, grabbing of garments, arms, wrists and other defensive techniques.
• Learn to defend against an attacker who’s bigger, stronger, faster than you.

All participants should bring a pair of athletic shoes/sneakers with clean soles to change into and wear during the seminar. Also wear athletic attire, i.e. sweatpants, tee shirt, sweatshirts etc.

When: Tuesday June 24 and Thursday June 26, 2025. 6:00 to 7:30pm both nights

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of one of our members and friend, Nancy Gowdey Arnold, the daughter of the founder of Yang Ki Yin Jiu Jitsu, Professor Gowdey. Nancy was ranked Shodan in Yabe Jiu Jutsu and Nidan in Yang Ki Yin Jiu Jitsu. She earned her YKYJJ Shodan rank in 1967. Nancy would continue to visit the dojo and attend testing's over the years until her illness overtook her.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 10 from 9:30 - 11:30 am at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, RI, immediately followed by a funeral service at 11:30 am. Burial will be in R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.

While we will be starting our classes at the Dojo on Monday, June 1, there has been a change in schedules.

There will not be a "in person" Kids class at this time. We will attempt to zoom the class so those who can't attend, can remotely participate.

Teen and Adult class time has changed to 6:30m to 8:00pm.

Please arrive early so we can ask the state mandated questions before class starts. Attendance will be limited on a first come basis. Payment for month at first class required for reserving spot for month.

Your safety and health is our primary concern. We will be following all state requirements for restarting our classes, they include, but are not limited to: maintaining social distancing, limiting the number of students, providing hand sanitizer before and after class, student and instructor supplied masks will be required, sanitizing areas as we have always done. Parents will need to drop off and wait in car or outside. Plan is to have large door open during classes. weather dependent.
