Tonight at 7:00 PM, the City Council will be discussing the pit bull ban.

If you're against lifting the ban, show up.

If you're for lifting the ban, show up.

But for the love of God, stop acting like Facebook is the voting booth.

For years, law-abiding citizens have been forced to choose between following an ordinance they disagree with or risking losing a dog that they consider family. Meanwhile, responsible dog owners are judged based on breed instead of behavior.

I support lifting the ban and replacing it with a dangerous dog ordinance that focuses on aggressive dogs regardless of breed. Dangerous is dangerous, no matter what the dog looks like.

You don't have to agree with me. In fact, that's the whole point. Everyone deserves a voice in this conversation.

What I don't want to hear tomorrow is a bunch of people complaining online about the outcome when they couldn't be bothered to show up tonight and speak for five minutes.

This is your chance. Not next week. Not on Facebook. Not in the comments section.

Tonight.

Show up. Speak up. Let your voice be heard.

Because if you stay home, don't be surprised when someone else makes the decision for you.
