C.B. Elite Blue wrapped up their tournament season today with a runner up finish in the top gold division of the Midwest Regional Hoops Championship. Their 3 wins included two double digit victories over teams they have struggled to beat in the past. The boys finished their season 25-12 competing against the top 5th grade teams in the Iowa/Nebraska area

With another tough tournament schedule coming up this weekend and a rough showing from both teams last Sunday, it took a lot to listen to my body and realize I was too sick to have practice tonight. I didn’t want to cancel, but I couldn’t risk passing this sickness along to my boys.

After Sunday, tonight was the reassurance I needed as a coach. It allowed me to reflect on what C.B. Elite is all about; a great group of kids that love the game of basketball. I would say most if not all of them look forward to practice nights and showing up to work to get better. We are a family with an amazing group of parents that stepped up so their son and others’ sons didn’t miss their hour and a half of practice this week. When practice is canceled and 12 of 17 players still show up and multiple parents stepped up to help you realize it’s not always the scoreboard where you win in this game.

Although C.B. Elite Blue finished on top of the Mid Gold division of the OSA February Frenzy Tournament this weekend, the boys weren’t satisfied with their results and are ready to get back to work this week.

C.B. Elite White played it’s best basketball of the season yesterday followed up by a tough performance today to finish runner up in their division of the OSA February Frenzy Tournament.
