Still working on the 3 Hills of Home rods, just finished fitting ferrules on one two to go. First time I've hollowed a 4 wt hummm should do this more often, it will cast a 6wt line 60 feet without effort. Seems Ive given away my 4wt line so the test cast was using a 6wt.

2021 bell making is finished, well almost. Started gluing up birch bark this after noon for a split 8 ft 4 wt. I was tiding up the shop a few weeks ago and found a 8ft 4wt blanks I started back in 2017 for someone who changed their order to a 5 wt, just the other day someone wants an 8ft 4 wt with an extra tip, I make an extra tip
with every rod but don't charge extra , hummm as crazy as it sounds if I did charge more I'd sell sell but that just goes against my up bringing even with the cost of bamboo going up to the ceiling. Tight lines y'all.

Ive started another nodeless hollow rod, this time using shorter chop sticks. The 8.5 ft 6wt i just finished is totally amazing, at first I thought I got carried away with the 3rd station hinge but now I'm glad I did however dont think i'll high stick fight a big fish. I do love the the little extra kick hummm flick the hinge gives it. Nest I'll be trying to figure fiberglass ferrules to save even more weight which really helps this old fish longer, just a 20% reduction made a world of difference. Ive already had to switch casting arms which was most difficult.

Working on another hollow rod. The 8.5 ft 6wt I finished the other day is just amazing. The current rod is nodeless plus hollow, I'm thinking it will be a killer. Yep hollow is the way to go and putting a hinge at station 3 makes for dang easy line control. Ive make several rods with a hinge at station 4 but I think at 3 is much better well at least for me. Yes indeed less weight more back bone is the way to go.

I just acquired my first fiberglass rod, I how have a greater appreciation for bamboo. I'll not mention any names but the guide wraps looked like first attempt. Bamboo is still king!

Plans for the switch rod are now on the back burner instead i'll be making another hollow rod; 9ft 7 wt 3 pc. Checking on the bamboo stock I came across two really nice culms with more power fibers than you could hit with a stick plus no scares or nasty discolored spots. Pondering on burning the pith for a nice yellow rod as usual I'll decide when the culm is split in half. I have a switch rod I bartered for several years ago hummm yet to fish it.

Soon I'll be making my first switch rod. Ive made several spinning rods so the grip and reel seat setup Ive done. Dont have nickel silver stock however I do have nickel bronze which is a bit difficult to turn on my elcheapO lath plus I'll need order a different boring bar setup hummmm I may order the nickel silver stock. Still in the planning stage, what length and weight. All in a day's fun.

Trying a new glue again, UniBond. I used a urea glue about 10 years back wasn't crazy about it but can't recall exactly. This new one has 2 hours pot life which is handy for nodeless work, yep considering going back to nodeless, nodes make my head hurt. Ive used 6 different glues over the years, hoping this is the one. Happy Mother's Day to the moms out there, enjoy.
