50% of businesses fail in 5 years. Between 65-70% of businesses fail by year 10.

9 years ago, I had a dream to help adults reverse aging, feel better, and move better. I wanted to fill my gym with people I could help. That first day 9 years ago was meager, and scary. People weren't banging down the door.

I've had to learn janitorial, bookkeeping, marketing, branding, sales, financial data, HR, hiring, and leadership skills-none of which I possessed at the time.

Today, at 7am I looked around and almost cried to see staff who believe in our mission, to see clients who want what we offer, and their lives are transforming because of it.

Somewhere along the way we decided the scale was the scoreboard. I think that's backwards.

I've watched people chase a smaller number all the way into a frailer body. And I've watched people chase strength — and the weight quietly took care of itself.

So here's where I plant my flag: strength is the goal. Weight is the side effect.

The visit is about your blood sugar, your weight, your dose. There's rarely time for what happens to your body composition underneath the weight loss.

This one means a lot to me.

Sarah came in with concerns about osteopenia in her back and hips. She was doing everything "right" on paper and still worried about her bones.

We built a plan around loading the body the way bone actually responds to.

In her recent DEXA scan, it showed reversals in hip osteopenia, and improvements in her back.

I won't pretend this happens for everyone, or overnight. But bone is far more responsive than most people are told — when you train it correctly and stay consistent.

That's not a chore. That's a snapshot of your functional age.

Grip strength is one of the most reliable signals of how well you're aging. And it's one of the first things to fade when you lose weight without training to keep your muscle.

You don't need to live in the gym to protect your muscle and bone. You need to be consistent.

For most older adults, two well-designed resistance sessions a week is the floor that protects what you've got. Not two hours of cardio. Not a perfect diet alone. Resistance training, on purpose, twice a week.

The barrier was never time. It's knowing what to do with it.

One lost mostly fat and kept their muscle and bone. The other lost a big share of muscle and bone along with the fat.

Same number. Completely different future.

The scale can't tell you which one you are. It only weighs you — it can't see what's leaving.

That's why what you DO during weight loss matters as much as the weight loss itself.
