The CGHS boys opened the season Friday night at WOU with plenty of big performances and new faces making an immediate impact.

Re*****on (9:11), Jennings (9:22), and Micah (9:44) led the way with lifetime bests for 3000m. Braeden (10:01) and Jose (10:05) rounded out the scoring five, with Jose delivering a strong performance in his varsity debut.

The Lions finished 6th in a field of more than 30 teams that included more than 15 5A and 6A schools. CGHS was the top 4A team in the field!

There was plenty to be excited about in the JV and novice races as well. Julien roared to an 11:02 after running 14:40 on the same course last year, while Bert showed off all of his hard work in the offseason by running 1 minute and 20 seconds faster than he did at The Opener last season.

Zeke, Sorin, Aiden, and Atlas all made their high school cross country debuts and finished within just 15 seconds of one another, giving the Lions even more depth and plenty of competition for future varsity spots.

Fresh starts. Big improvements. Lots of potential. This group is just getting started!

The CGHS girls kicked off their season Friday night at WOU with a combination of strong returning performances and exciting high school debuts.

Carly (11:13) and Rowyn (11:18) led the Lions with personal bests, while Hailey (12:14), Cally (12:40), and Scarlett (12:53) completed the scoring five. Cally made an immediate varsity impact with a strong performance in her first high school cross country race.

The Lions finished 9th overall in a deep field, placing ahead of more than eight 5A and 6A schools!

The night also featured some exciting new faces, with Rachael and Natalya turning in fantastic performances in their high school debuts.

It was a great first look at a group with plenty of potential for the season ahead.
