Meet Coach Omar.

One of the things we take seriously at AIM is who we trust to coach our members, and Omar brings a pretty impressive background to our team.

A former collegiate football player himself, Omar has spent years in the college Strength & Conditioning world, working with athletes at Azusa Pacific University, Cal State Fullerton, USC Football and most recently, Fordham University Football.

He earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Azusa Pacific University, where he also played football, and is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).

But what we love most is how that experience translates to the way he coaches.

Coach O believes in moving well before adding load. Build a strong foundation, learn to move correctly, and then it’s time to get stronger.

He brings a variety of training styles and methods to the floor and knows how to adjust his coaching to the person in front of him. Whether you’re an athlete looking to perform better or an adult who simply wants to be stronger, move better and keep doing the things you love, the same principles apply.

High-level coaching shouldn’t only be available to high-level athletes.

We’re excited to have Coach O at AIM.

You’ve heard of a runner’s high.

That feeling after a run where somehow your head feels clearer, your mood feels better and life just feels a little more manageable.

But runners aren’t the only ones who get it.

There’s a reason people keep coming back to strength training.

Even when they’re tired.
Even when they’re sore.
Even when getting themselves to the gym was the LAST thing they felt like doing that day.

Because you almost always feel better when you leave.

Strength training doesn’t just change your body. It can change your mood, reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression and give you something I think a lot of women desperately need.

A feeling of being strong and capable.

The on women keeps getting better. Strength training has been shown to improve strength and body composition in women across the lifespan, including after menopause.

But I think one of the biggest benefits is harder to measure.

You start doing things you didn’t think you could do.

You lift something that used to feel heavy.
You stop being afraid to try.
You notice yourself getting stronger.

And that starts to change the way you see yourself.

Maybe the people who keep showing up aren’t always more motivated than you.

Maybe they’ve just figured out how good it feels on the other side of showing up.

If you’ve been waiting to feel motivated enough to start, stop waiting.

Come get strong first.

The motivation might just follow.

Why are we just… HOLDING? 😅

Split squat holds might not look like much, but give it 20–30 seconds and you’ll understand.

Isometric exercises create tension and produce force without movement — and they’re valuable at any age and for any athlete.

Split squat holds help us:

• Build strength and stability in the hips, knees and ankles
• Improve single-leg strength and balance
• Strengthen tendons and connective tissue
• Build control in positions where we’re weak
• Improve our ability to produce AND maintain force

For athletes, that carries over to sprinting, cutting, jumping and changing direction.

For everyone else? Stairs, hiking, balance, getting up and down, and keeping your legs strong and capable as you age.

Not every exercise needs to be fast or flashy.

Sometimes getting stronger means getting into a hard position… and owning it.

Today is Coach Marilyn’s last day with us as she heads off to USC to begin physical therapy school.

She’s only been with us for a year, but in that short time she’s earned the respect of every single person she’s worked with. Her knowledge and education are impressive, but what really stands out is her kindness and her quiet ability to get the very best out of people. She has a way of pushing our members to leave just a little stronger, more confident, and better than when they walked in.

We’ve also had the privilege of watching Marilyn grow herself. She finished her time at AIM with a huge 235 lb squat and a 110 lb bench press—both lifetime PRs and a reflection of the hard work she puts into everything she does.

Marilyn has been an incredible asset to our members, our staff, and our community. We’re sad to see her go, but we’re excited to watch her chase this next chapter. We have no doubt she has a bright future ahead and that she’ll make an incredible physical therapist.

Fight On, Marilyn! ✌️❤️💛

If you’ve ever walked out of one of our strength sessions thinking…

“Shouldn’t I be more tired?”

This is for you.

We’ve been taught to believe that sweat, soreness, and exhaustion equal results.

But if your goal is to get stronger, move better, and stay healthy for decades, that’s not always true.

We’re not training you to win today’s workout.

We’re training you to win the next 20 years.

Read through the slides—you might never look at strength training the same way again.
